He's Dunn... but I'm not!
« on: January 09, 2018, 08:36:53 AM »
The check cleared. ( :o wipes sweat off forehead) A deal almost a year in the making. Lots of back-and-forth. Lots of ups-and-downs.

You heard it here first. I've been blessed to be given the opportunity to take possession of the 50 years of masters, 1000+ molds, and everything related to casting those fabulous little details from the man himself, George Sellios. The fine scale miniatures portion of those beautiful Fine Scale Miniatures will continue.

I thought any possibility of this happening was gone, and that a giant in the business would probably end up with everything. Then George & I talked at a show recently. There are only a small number of people he was offering this to. I was one of them. Wake me up, I must be dreaming.

Doug Foscale & Robert Seckler drove up to Peabody in December to see everything for me, and catalog the contents. Hal Reynolds was there for me too, but he didn't drive there. I think he walked. (Okay, it was probably more for a private tour of the F&SM and not so much for me and a pile of old molds circa 1967.)

As for the permission to rerun some past structure designs in our agreement, he wouldn't hear it. If George Sellios says "Limited Edition" - that's it. No amount of money would sway him. He's indeed a man of his word who values his customer trust, even in his retirement.

So stay tuned as I hire a rigging company to move the heavy machinery I got in this deal-of-a-lifetime. Do you know how much a "mold vulcanizer" weighs?

A very happy JimmyD

It might not look like much to you, but to me these long-since-forgotten-about molds deep in the basement below the F&SM are like Fort Knox gold...

Let me be the first to congratulate you here!
Well done.
Does Melissa know how to operate a vulcanizer?

Congratulations Jimmy. I'm thrilled that someone who really appreciates the significance of the product AND has the business sense to keep it going came made it happen. Good luck and best wishes!

Congratulations on the new line of RailroadKits casting.

Jimmy

Great news! George has been talking about what he wants to do with the space for months.  I look forward to being able to place my first order. You have a challenge ahead of you to maintain George's quality.

Congratulations Jimmy. It is nice to have that feeling. You deserve it. Carl Laskey says very nice things about you. Him I trust.

Jimmy,
Congrats, You can at least become "The Casting King". I am sure that anyone of us would pay to get our hands on re-runs of some of his castings...
