Morning!  Another chilly one here in Ct.  Hope the warm weather (85C? Youch!) beats the cold out of you Dave.  I will be getting some train time in today.

Morning, all.

I have the day off as it's a holiday and I worked Christmas Eve.  So I have a "mini" five day vacation.  I get to watch the Patriots' game later  ;D , and have another FT unit to install a sound decoder in.  May need to start the challenge build as well.

Morning. There's already about 4'' of ice on the river, not bad considering it was open a week ago.

Good morning.  Negative numbers here today.  Running a few errands this morning, then maybe a little modeling?

This weekend we'll finish Christmas, that includes some over-due things (cards, a few late gifts) and also taking down the tree.  And then we have to start planning for our big trip at the end of the week (Egypt & Jordan).

I might get some time down in the train room, more work on removing the flash behind the windows on a resin passenger car kit.

Morning all,

I was up at 5:30 AM and it was a brisk 48 out by the pool.

I've been in the train room since 0 dark thirty and forgot to check in. I'm that excited about my build challenge.

Raymo's picture is one I can look at for a long time. Thank you! It's now in my SAL file.

Back to my lamp post. Ya'll have a great and safe New Years Eve.

Good Morning All,

The wife and I just returned from Southern California. Our grandson is a junior in high school and plays varsity basketball. His high school team here in Arizona was invited to an invitational playoffs in Southern California. They would play four games. They won the first two and lost the second two; by one point, and two overtimes - two points respectively. This was a major milestone for the team and the coach. They all should be proud for representing their school.

While there, I visited a couple of train friends. Pete picked me up at the hotel and we stopped at a hobby shop so Pete could find some paint. Boy, this shop was awesome. They had the largest supply of paints I have ever seen. Granted, they did not have any floquil, but lots of brands I have never seen. The hobby shop did not carry trains, but it had everything else. They also had a great selection of books. That was my demise.

A Spanish company called AK Interactives not only had their paints for sale, but some of their books. I bought two. One book is called "Realistic Wood Efects" and the second book is called Diorama F.A.Q. Both books are great. The Diorama book is humongous. 559 pages humongous and covers everything. This is going to take some time to digest and seen what I can apply to the layout. Lots of cross pollination of ideas.

No trains today, well maybe a few minutes. I wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and many, many days, months and years of playing with trains. All the best to everyone.
