Ditto that, Mark. Too busy getting the new semester up and running. Reaching for the weekend. The bench is clean and ready to go. 👍🏻

Morning. It's a dog eat dog world out there... I can hear the conductor as he entered this car yelling out,"Ticks and fleas, Please have your ticks and fleas"...

Good morning.

Dan, that's a really punny way to start the day!

Morning all,

Three day weekend coming up so I should be able to get some workbench time in.  :D  I really need to get my current build finished so I can get started on Raymo's challenge build before it's too late.   :o

Have a great one!

Morning, all.

My company makes us get an annual physical to get a discount on our health insurance, so I get to go the doctor today.   :P  Hopefully the freezing rain will hold off until I get back.

Good morning!
I'm going to be hanging out at the hospital one more day, with Amy.  Everything is going well,  but she needs to be on IV antibiotics for one more day. Thanks again for all the well wishes. I hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning All,

It's foggy this morning and temps in the 70's. Have some chores this morning then I hope to finish my current build. It's not in the contest because I started building too early.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Tom...

Great photo of the Proviso yard........  I traipsed around that place a lot in the early 60's

As kids....... we really lived in the Milwaukee Cragin yard; 1954 through about 1960.  It was only a few blocks away.  There were these old flat wheeled steam switchers that we being kept alive until the engineers retired.   Then they retired both.  Those old guys were everyone's grand father.  "Hey kid!  Ya wanna climb up here and ring the bell?"  SURE ! ! !

I was twelve or thirteen at the time.

We would ride around for hours sitting on the edge of the tender trying to be out of the way and hope that they forget that we were even there.  They didn't but it was great.  One guy pulled me up so many times that he let me run the throttle and reverse rack.  Most of these were old consolidations that barely had the power to get off their own flat spots. Nothing happened fast.

Cragin yard had a hump yard so that is mostly what they were up to.  We would walk over the Central Avenue bridge and go in from the north side of the yard. This was just east of the area that the Milwaukee sold to Zenith Radio.

All of this was before the proliferation of attorneys.

So help me with the above photo.......... What did the northwestern do with plug door box cars?

see ya

Bob,

Glad you enjoyed the photo of Proviso Yard.

I have no idea what the C&NW did with the cars.

I found the photo at the site below. Great photos from the 30's, 40's and early 50's.

You'll love this site. There are about 2500 pictures
