Thursday the 8th of February
« on: February 08, 2018, 06:10:58 AM »
Good morning!  Frozen tundra outside this morning.  Everything is iced over.  The salt I spread just sunk into the ice and was frozen over again.  Lovely.

Weather, we all have it whether we want it or not. No salt needed for the weather here. ;D ;D

Ya'll have a great day ya hear.

Morning, all.

Tom, if you'd fill that pool in, you'd have room for a larger layout building.   :) More snow starting this afternoon into tomorrow morning, when I'm supposed to go to work.   :P

Morning all,

With all this southern weather talk, I think I need more training, more sensitivity training. ;D Thanx Thom...

Good morning! I'm glad we missed the ice - we where on the snow side of the storm. I'll take 2 feet of snow over a 1/2 inch of ice. I'm heading into the train room for the day - I'm really enjoying having all the time this winter to work on the layout. I hope everyone has a great day. My picture of the day is from the Houston Narrow Gauge Convention Layout Tours.

Good morning.

Since Tom posted a picture of his back yard, I thought I'd post one of mine.  Can anyone tell the difference, I sure can't.

I have been absent without leave for a few weeks. Apologies I must get back to modelling sometime soon but next the two weekends are busy with model railway exhibiting.

My wife and I have recently returned from coastal voyage on Hurtigruten up the coast of Norway. Temperatures at Kirkenes just across the border from Russia were in the -34 Centigrade range (once Brexit happens I can start counting in old money again). That was cold!

Hurtigruten was fascinating - our mail/ferry/cruise ship of 11000 tons made 67 ports of call on a roundtrip voyage of 12 days. The line(with 11 ships)  links towns and villages along the coast of Norway with each community being visited twice a day by ships travelling in either a northerly or southerly direction. I ended up buyiing a kit of one of the line in 1/100 scale which measures 32 inches from stem to stern. The instructions are in Norwegian though which I need translatiing. But it could be a fun build!

Good Morning All,

Looks like we have a contest of the cold country folks against the warm country folks. So, here is my 2 cents from Arizona. the low this morning was 49 and the expected high is 83 f. Clear and sunny. That note must include a statement of what our weather will be in the upcoming summer, just to make some people feel warmer. How does 115 plus this summer sound? Remember that we typically get a 30 degree shift from low to high daily. Its not 115 all day and night. There would be no one here.
And yes we do get some occasional rain. No much so far this year. Here our backyard during a deluge last year. the vegetation love it. Me, not so much, because everything grows extremely fast after a rainfall.
Have a wonderful day where ever you live.
