Good morning. My 50th post and the ensuing status promotion! I can barely contain my excitement.

To commemorate the occasion, here's an old, not-so-good photo of the first craftsman kit I ever built. Not sure of the date -- thinking around 1990 or so. Was scared out of my mind when I first opened the box. But, at the end, my addiction to kits had taken root.

The "backdrop" you see here was concrete basement walls painted sky blue. After building a few kits, I reasoned that I couldn't put a bunch of effort into structures and scenery and then phone in the backdrop. So now I'm putting up tempered hardboard. My Duffy's build in "Finished Dioramas" shows an example of that....at least the start of it.

Sorry for the photo quality -- didn't have much time to take some better ones.

Cheers,
Vince

Morning all,

Love that tannery build Vince.  I've built that one as well.  The box did contain quite an assortment of quality 'stuff'.  The FSM instructions are #1 in my book.  I've got two FSM builds (Baileys Produce and Avram's Bakery) lined up after I complete my challenge build.  I'd better get started on my challenge build.   ;)

Have a great one!

Good morning.

Vince,
Nice job on the tannery.  Looks great, especially considering it was your first.  And, congrats with your status upgrade.  I heard you should see a raise with it, still waiting for mine.

Snowing hard here, forecast calls for up to a foot before it ends.  Looks like I'll be outside enjoying the fresh air much of my day.

Morning all.

It's snowing here for the third straight day, so I'll be out removing it again.   >:(

Good morning! Congratulations on the promotion Vince - very nice modeling. I spent the afternoon, yesterday,  trimming the trees in my yard and dragging the branches through the snow to the back of my property. Getting out of bed this morning was a real adventure  ;) . I'm heading into the train room to recover.  I hope everyone has a great day. Here is another photograph from the Narrow Gauge Convention Scenery Tours.

Good morning Raining and cold but just above freezing. Dentist then grocery shopping and lunch with Rea. Train room in the pm. Got to fix a track section that is causing a derailment. Sounds like an Amtrak problem but this is on the Westchester and Boston (New Haven freelance).

Leave for Venice, FL next Tuesday on the Autotrain. We go thru the section in SC that had the wreck. CSXs fault!

Nice build Vince

Vince, Congratulations on the promotion and the build. Excellent work for your first effort. Excellent if it was your hundredth.
I built my first kit in 1969, it was FSM #25 Branchline Water Tower. Cost 4.95. Built it took it back to the hobby shop in Reading, Pa. where I bought it, and gave to the owner, said. I want to buy an other one.
If someone wants this one they can have it. He was nice in saying, why, this one is okay. I used shoe polish at full strength. It was not bad, certainly not good.
Second one much better.

Good morning!  Snow & a "mix" of weather headed our way....oh boy.  Got a little bench time in last night, but never enough.

Yeah Mark, it's heading you way all right.  :P

Slow go this morning. Snow, freezing rain, rain, slush, sleet, fog, freezing fog, mist... you name it. Couldn't figure out which tool was best for the driveway; squeegee or shovel. I guess I needed a squeegel.

Should've stayed home but decided to make the trek into work and see a car or two spun out on the side of I-79.
