Morning Dan and others,

Finally got the power back late yesterday. Today should be the last day of cleaning up all the debris in the yard. We had no damage to the house at all. The generator worked like a charm so we had fans and kept the refrig going.

We had no sustained winds higher than 96 mph here in downtown Orlando. When we had a visit from Hurricane Charlie the winds at the house were around 128 mph. That made a very big difference in the damage. We were very fortunate with Irma.

Glad all the other forum members faired well.

Morning All,

I was thrilled to return to my "non-layout" home to see that my son had picked up the yard (not a small task), took down ALL of the storm shutters AND put them all in the garage attic! Good man.

This morning, I have to present my case in front of 50 people in the ER at a local hospital. I'll relax when that's done. :o If it goes well, I see a new engine in my future ;) .

Glad everyone seems OK post-Irma and otherwise. Have a good'un

Morning all,

Still no power at our house.  The message from the power company is that it should be restored by Sunday night.   :o   :'(  I'm hoping/praying that they're setting our expectations low and they surprise us.  It's rather unpleasant trying to sleep in a warm house with no air moving.  Oh boy, the cube has A/C.   ::)

Have a great one!

Bob,

You are welcome to use my generator, it has a full tank of gas. At least you can get the fans going and restart the refrig.

Good Morning All,

Clean up continues today but I should be able to finish today. Our daughter got her power back late yesterday and they had been told Friday, so I hope it works the same for you Bob.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning, all.

I think I'll clean up the work area today.  Not quite as messy as what you Florida folks are dealing with.   8)

Woke up this morning at 6 from the sound of a chainsaw, firemen were cutting down a tree 3 doors further that had fallen against those neighbors wall, that's what happens when you have a fall storm while all the trees still have all their foliage.

Thanks Tom!  I'll be down this evening to pick it up if our power doesn't come back on before then.  A lot of folks in the office are saying their power was restored yesterday.  Even one that lives not too far from me.  Fingers crossed!

Glad to hear everyone is getting power back and their lives returning to order. When we had our home built over 12 years ago one of our 300 plus upgrades (I hate compromises) was a 22000 watt generator. Which was never used for more than a few minutes until now. I would have to say I hoped to never use it. But it was worth it. I hope to not use it again for this long a time.

Electrician has been hard at work in the basement, I have some extra wiring requirements to support the layout and workshop needs.  In particular (a) separately switched light outlets in the ceiling (for shop lights, track lighting or whatever else I decide for layout lighting.) and (b) every outlet has one of the outlets switched at the wall (while the other remains hot.)  The idea is I can shut everything off with a single wall switch.

Greg,

Good to hear from you. I've tried to call but don't have your cell so I guess you land line is still down.
