I believe Carl Laskey did a great job on this kit. As I am sure you will.

Steve, You can do it. Most would throw the damn thing in the trash. Do it out of the hearing range of children.

Dave, You are correct, get the best, take of them. In the end they do a great job and you save money by not buying inferior, than good.
Compromising is never a good idea.

Can not beat a Sierra West kit in the hands of a great modeler. If you want the O scale version go to Stoney Creek Designs. Would need to buy it second hand.

I suggest you get different powders. Take the time to experiment on various surfaces. You will decide which you like best for each applications. If someone asked me to pick one. Hands down Pan Pastels. But once on, pretty much always on. Like anything test is best.

Well done George. Are you using chalk paint? If so whose please? I use Annie Sloan.
Thank you

I endorse the use of markers. From Sharpie extra fine to the high end ones. The color selection is endless. Very useful even on stained wood after cutting and you are left with a white end. Touch up, highlighting. Many uses. To achieve the bottom dirt look, just press and let the stain up up the board. Or down. Last forever. Most have a fat and narrow tip.
