Craig, hope you're better soon. Kidney stones are the worst pain. I've passed several over the years. Although, the last one I passed saved my life.

Nice job, Tom. Here's a couple of caskets in case you haven't seen them.

When you say, "FOS Hendrix Style Foundry"... Have you got an Ed Fulasz "Old Stone Warehouse"?

--Rich

when Ed Fulasz retired, the rights to his kits were obtained by Jimmy Deignan who produced them for a number of years. When he decided to stop production, the rights, and I assume, molds, were transferred to Doug Foscale. That's why you see some "Fulasz style" hydrocal show up from time to time in a few of Doug's kits.

Anyway, nice job Kurt.

Jaime,

We all know wooden structures can warp over time. I wonder what these paper/cardboard ones will do. Have you given any thought to adding wood bracing to the building before assembling it? Would it help prevent future warping? Just a thought.

Bob,
Luv the stone coloring. It is spot on. Great build, as always!

A true story about Randy Pepperock and Downtown Deco that everyone needs to read. A few years ago, Randy made the sojourn to the Expo as a vendor. I had admired several of his kits, but hadn't built any. I particularly liked the Addam's Avenue 3 kit and bought one at the Expo. It sat for several months while other projects came and went. Finally, I brought out the kit to build. To my disappointment, all four walls were so badly warped or twisted that building it was impossible. I had built several of Ed Fulasz's kits, so it wasn't my first hydrocal rodeo. I emailed Randy and explained the problem. He said being a one man operation, sometimes things happen and he would make it right. A few days later, what I assumed was a replacement kit arrived. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and had not only a replacement, but two complete sets of walls and two extra side walls for practice, AND they were perfect! This kind of outstanding customer service is one reason I have bought several more Downtown Deco kits and will continue to support Randy and his business. Every other DD kit I've bought has been perfect.  I just ordered this kit and encourage all you hydrocalphobic modelers do the same. You won't be disappointed.

Gerald, if you're looking for a cast replacement door, try here. They make some that are very close to FSM.

http://besttrains.com/products_4-0000.html      4-0179 to 4-0183   and here

Their castings are very good quality.

If anyone is looking for a fast, easy way to "plant" their lighthouse, here's a link to a precast hydrocal "stone" base from builders in scale/cc crow.
