Quote from: jerryrbeach on February 29, 2024, 09:29:15 AMGood morning.

I hope there is positive progress toward feeling much better for everyone under the weather or just recovering.

I, too, can hit those times where motivation is lacking.  As Craig said, I find starting something where I can see major progress if not a completed model helps to get me going again.  That's probably why I have far more very small structures than will ever fit on my layout.

The National Weather Service just blew up my phone with a severe snow squall warning.  I'm thinking anyone with a window already knew that, but I feel so much safer now (sarcasm!).

I hope everyone has a safe and rewarding day.
I Get those weather warnings on my phone too. Usually come in as I am plowing my driveway to let me know that snow is going to hit!  Totally useless.

Same thing with our forest fire app. Last summer we got an evacuation order alert as we were leaving our property with our stuff in hand. Totally useless. Fortunately we did not get touched by the forest fire, but can't say the same for our neighbours. Over 180 homes destroyed.

Anyways, sun is shining and snow is melting. I get to spend a few hours at the bench on a new kit while the 3D printers and laser hum away.

Modeling Wizardry / Re: Considering 3d printing

I got my first resin 3d Printer back in 2014. $5000 dental printer that does less than today's Elegoo Mars 3Pro. It had 25micron resolution and a print area of 1.3" by 2".  After a number of different printers along the way, we have settled on a farm of Elegoo Mars3Pro's and 4Pro's. Great little workhorses and never skips a beat. Same resolution, but a fraction of the price.

 Here is a PDF of a powerpoint I did a couple of years back on Laser cutting and 3D printing. A bit dated because of the speed at which resin printer resolution is changing, but all still relevant for getting into 3D printing.  Hope it helps.

Two more days before we throw on the feed bag and go for it!
Gotta go down the mountain today and fight the hoards for some last minute groceries. We are having Roasted Turkey, Smoked and baked maple glazed spiral cut ham (like candy!), Fried Bacon Perogies, Mashed potatoes, sour cabbage rolls, Stuffing, Home Smoked Salmon, fresh baked puff pastry cheese sticks, parsley on the side (for a veggie to keep our doctor happy), and from scratch angel food cake with whipped cream and berries, Creme Brule (because you have all the egg yolks left over from the angel food cake!) ... and then there is the usual baked goods: cookies, gingerbread blobs, maple butter tarts, etc. etc.   Yes, the Deliberator is ready on standby downstairs...

Good thing there are 5 of us for Christmas dinner this year.  Hopefully I survive and will see you all on the other side of Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas to you all!

Quote from: SteveCuster on December 14, 2023, 11:44:02 PMThanks Darryl!

The dimensions you asked for are:
A= 237"
B= 133" to the inside corner behind the closet, 90" to the closet wall.
C= 61"
D= 86"
E= 42"

If the configuration of the room is similar, I'd be glad to share what I would do differently if I did it over.

-Steve

Thank's for the dimensions Steve. I would love to hear what you would do differently as the space I am planning is similar to yours in size  and access. For me, my layout is more of a diorama with moving trains so operations are not as important as getting the scene and perspective right.

Wow! that is nice.

Question for you Steve, What are the dimensions of the layout in this picture. I am trying to tie this to my own layout design for a realistic look. Particularly, the dimensions in this picture below.

Please keep sharing. Very encouraging work!

Getting ready to cut a new kit design. It's always exciting to take a design off the screen and craft it in wood, polybak and plastic!

Trying to live up to our "Detail Insanity" expectations.

Keep On Model'n Everyone!

Absolutely amazing! Please keep sharing here, Darryl. You know I love your kits/posts like these!
Will do. And I hope you do the same!!

Happy Friday!

The sun is out and the bit of snow on the 2000 feet of driveway is melting.

Looking forward to being caught up on orders this week and a weekend spent designing new kits.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Morning all!

Frosty snow in the trees this morning up here on the mountain.  I am spending the day filling order and a bit of time working on a new HO kit design.  Have a wonderful day!
