It's amazing. What a sight! Can see John Allen there all day.

Thanks for digging it out for me!

Craig,
Speaking of John Allen, did you know a highly detailed copy of his layout is being built by Randy Decker from all the great remaining pictures and drawings.  It's really something to see.  Some modern day technology like Dcc will be interjected.
                                                                                                                              Thanx Thom...

Craig,
These are some of the best pictures of the f&sm I have ever seen!  What a fantastic job you did capturing the layout.  :)
                                                                                                                                                                                               Thanx Thom...

John,
Holy Cow!, this is coming along nicely!  I can see where you've put in some thought on some things and where you're keeping the finished product in mind as you're building.  Great craftsmanship sir!

ACL 1504,
Ahh, quit your crybabytitysuckin' and man up! You've survived the only disease the world can't seem to shake until there's no more voting on this planet.  Going to get another poke and prod is a cake walk at 75.

I remember some ol' guy said it best in a song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ123T3zD2k  You've got the best medicine the world has to offer (a pretty lady holdin' your hand named Pam).

But hey, if you decide to go beyond that and visit John Allen.  I'm sure he'll be more interested in shakin' your hand and sayin' what a great job you've done since he took his modeling break.

So hurry back and finish your AS posts before someone else out post's you once and for all.

Jerry,
That's really cool!  I think is one fine A&P mechanic.   Thanks for sharing some extra hobby knowledge.
                                                                                                                                                                   Thanx Thom...

ACL 1504,
I'm liking the 1x2's idea, I remember someone building a second layer once before using wider boards.
                                                                                                                                                                         KP-out...

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Re: Preiser quality…

Craig,
My thoughts are similar to what's been discussed so far; about the worn molds etc.  Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me that the ones in the advertisement are possibly the prototypes or professionally cleaned up (de-flashed) and clear coated, even possibly hand painted.

Where in the molding process a worker(s) could simply paint the half molds with paint in the the right places on both sides, the pieces joined and the injection completed and therefore heat melting the paint on the figures and then after cooled, many workers finish hand paint the eyes etc. detail touchups?

Well just my 3-1/2¢ worth here (inflation) ???, Dennis makes a good point as well, I'm curious to look at my figures as well... Hummm? on second thought, I don't really care, because I never really cared before either-so long as I'm not painting figures.  *side note: I bought that big bag of unpainted ones some 20 years ago thinking I'd save some money and after 90 mins of torture and having watched 6-8 jars of paint start to harden up right in the jar with the tops open, I figured let someone else do it.

Question, since someone seemed to notice an advertising and compare to the actual product comparison.  What of buying fast food (yuk, I know) the advertisement looks so perfect and delicious, yet the flat-fake meat sliding off-can't find the special sauce etc. ugh! I've said enough... :-X

Or how about a nice looking engine from a manufacturer that the kid is driving in the advertisement and when we open the box -flip a coin! are the gears cracked?   Point made~

ACL 1504,
Look, I have to be honest here.  I'm not going to kiss your AS layout, I'm just going to be blunt here!

Crap! Crap! Crap! Ridiculous scenes, poor layout lighting, uneven water, poor water scenes, super long trains-heck super short 1 car trains, the most unprofessional looking trees, you must be color blind with your painting skills, I could go on, should I go on, I will go on too another forum to find a better modeler for the AS empire~

None! and I mean None! of the aforementioned comments will ever apply to you sir, I will speak the truth to you on this forum or start speaking Klingon, (humm? well I do speak Klingon) "joHwI', De' law', HIja', joHwI' qanaDmeH mIw." so scratch that comment.

Keep up the always interesting, yet ever awesome inspirational layout my friend! :o

Dave!,
You are talking about the "S" word, S-P-A-C-E.  Americans have space on average to RUN trains so we usually focus on long running trains (while some layout trains are kept smaller because of price of buying 400 cars to fill a large yard)*understandable.

While across the pond "S" word is not so much INSX (in excess) so attention to high detail and lots of Dcc functions fill up small track real quick.  *Those who have diorama's or shelf layouts or switching modules know this oh too well.

As I push farther away from the shore of childhood, I see in the horizon of wisdom, that less is more, however Dcc fully maxed out with lights, sounds, weathering and highly detailed trackage by the foot (rather than the over burden of a mile) pleases me more because I don't have to imagine my trains running down the tracks with all the details my brain can fill in, but rather simply push a button and experience it while all those wooden kits packed with castings and over grown with Woodland Scenics, Noch and others past by at scale speed.  8)  My 2¢.       Thanx Thom...
