..ok, so I'll get a little thread started here too....with no intent of a thread before this forum began, the pictures will kinda start after the fact....I'll do my best to show progress from going back into my pictures and see what happens....most of my builds of late have been my own kits....the only other kit on my bench at this time is Doug's Red Hook 2....(I'll get some pics up on that one here too)
...looks like I need to resize the pics.....
Jeff
What pictures
None there!!!!
....starting the dock supports...
How big is the whole project going to be?
...this is like dejavu, I can't post pictures again....
Al...the plans on this one for now are -
- harbor master
- cotton exchange
- a small freight house
- a large freight house
- another dock with a different footprint
- and a little grouping of 3-4 stores/dock business's......
...the dock progresses.....
...I hope to post some pictures of the completed Cotton Exchange and the little dio that it is on.....I'll post more construction pictures as I move on to the next building of this series....the next building will probably be the smaller freight house....but knowing me, that is subject to change....I just picked up a neat structure from a friend to do a kit of....which may interfere with scheduled plans... ???
..the Cotton Exchange building.....the picture is of the test build, and the dormers and some others issues have been fixed....
...here is the Harbor Master building for this series....is it unique or weird?
Methinks Jeff is burning the midnight oil.

Me thinks this will cause me great misery as I may have to remodel the whole end of Port Hapless...Fortunately it hasn't been ballasted in or too scenicked yet...

Weirdly unique.
..and here is the finished version of the Cotton Exchange...this is the first building of this Front Street Dock series.....other than some details this one is ready to go.....cutting and packing these now....(maybe this should be posted in the manufacturer's section of this forum??)....
...and a few more pics....
....up next, will be the "Dockside Fish Market", a rather run down fish market that has stood the test of time....this one replaces the small freight building that I originally had on the list.....

Looks perfectly normal in my mind! ;D ;D ;D
...here is a conceptual vision of what all is to be a part of this series.....
Jeff,
Well done my friend. I like the dock look!
Tom
Tugs at my heart...I spent two years commercial fishing along the coast from Cape Hatteras NC to Cape Canaveral FL. Most of the time going out of Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant SC (Charleston). Looks like a lot of the little fish docks that we came in to unload our catch of Snapper, Grouper, Vermillion, pogies...and anything else that we could sell. All on hook and line with 1-armed bandit rig that we used. I'll dig out a picture from back then, it'll be good for a laugh.
Al, most of my "ideas" from the waterfront stuff comes from Coastal Carolina stuff...especially from the Wilmington NC area....some of this series comes from a portion of early Wilmington from the turn of the century.....

Looks good so far. I would like to see the rest of it. I am doing a large waterfront scene my self.

Made quite a few trips out of Oak Island, Southport NC. You need a model of "Supply NC" just over the dry county line... ;D ;D ;D
The waterfront looks great Jeff.

Jeffy-boy - Sounds like a must-have kit to me! ;D ;D ;D
As long as it's on the right side of the dry county line!

I think you could model the whole town...4 liquor stores in gas stations...That's all it was when I was there. Don't forget the big red dots...the locals couldn't find the liquor stores without them.
I like this building. It could be used anywhere on a layout. Will you be offering a stone/brick foundation in case it is not used on a pier?
Great looking structure Jeff!
