Scratchbuilding / test
December 14, 2021, 09:29:39 AM
Hi guys. I downloaded some shakes from clever models and threw together a little wall. I am quite impressed with how real they look. My camera doesn't really do it justice but to the naked eye at 2 feet they appear totally 3d

Modeling Reference Pix / Massachusetts
August 19, 2021, 05:32:54 AM
Just spent wonderful vacation in Mass. we went to Rockford and and found these. Recognize the red one?  Ive loved it for years and finally got to get measurements and a lot of my own pics. It's such an inspiring place. The suck part is we missed fsm by one day. Our flights were booked and couldn't change them. Next year for sure if there is one.  The red house with me in front is where I lived till I was five.

Kit Building / stained glass
August 04, 2021, 08:28:46 PM
Hi folks,

Do you ever get something in your head and can't let it go? I have wondered for some time now why old factory windows have painted or stained glass panes. Why are only some colored? Is it just replacement over time. I have searched rather extensively tonight and can not find the answer.

Thanks

I've ordered some motors from shape ways way to expensive but hey gotta get what you can find.

Need to build a pier and also a floating gas dock on barrels

Scratchbuilding / Road side delights
August 26, 2019, 12:00:20 AM
Well I was going to kit bash bar mills oakleaf storage, Then I saw the garage from roadside delights. I thought I would try a scratch build.
and this is where I am now.

Ordered some siding and lumber from northeastern and I had some windows left over from kits. Walls are the mineral spirits scotch tape technique. The windows will match when I repaint them.

The walls for main building are done as are the addition on the right side. I'll cut the walls for the left side in a few days.

I've had bar mills Oak leaf for a while and wanted to bash it into a service station. then I saw road side delights and Karl O's awesome build. So here is my first mock up Using just the kit parts. I have an order from North eastern on the way as the shop on the left is way too small. I'm thinking lights and an interior (at least in the shop).

This is my first scratch/bash so it will all be learning experience

Kit Building / Oak leaf shipping
June 20, 2019, 08:34:45 PM
After several months on one project I need to take a little break and do something smaller. I've had Oakleaf Shipping on the shelf for a long time. I think I'm going to do some kind of repair shop/garage/??. You guys are much more creative than me when creating the history of your buildings and the companies that use them. And now the obligatory box photo

Dioramas / Hollis Exterminating as Kent Auto
June 26, 2018, 04:48:35 PM
Hi all
It's been way too busy to do much modeling lately. Working every other weekend and camping on the others. I did have the day off today so I thought I'd make a base for this. still some details to find and add but it was fun to do something.
I do see some things to fix but that's for another day

Has any one gotten one of these yet? Mine came today but no one was home and the mail person wouldn't leave it. I'm going to pick it up at post office tomorrow. I'd love to see a build on this

Kit Building / Interior tips
February 28, 2018, 11:33:44 PM
Hi Guys

I would like to add an interior to my Hollis exterminating. Specifically the garage with the door open an a shot through the one of the upstairs windows. How do you hide the bracing? Should I just build a box for the inside?

Thanks

Dick
