Morning all.

Hump Day.  I'll be cleaning and straightening up the basement as my son and his family will be coming this weekend.  I had to clean the track where the ties got painted, and ran a couple of trains to make sure everything was in working order.

My ITLA kits came, I've started looking the one over and will get to it, probably after the kids leave Sunday.

Morning all.

A 50 degree morning here and the rain is supposed to start soon.  We could really use it, so I'm not complaining.

Jim's 1905 truck from a couple of days ago was pretty cool.

Craig has posted his new kits are available.  I don't need any more kits (ordered only 2 ITLA kits last week ::) )but the Scrap Merchant's place will probably find a spot on the Empire somewhere.

Maybe some layout work later, and will watch the Hawkeye Women's BB game tonight.   Time to take out the trash and recycling.

I'll bet you used a LOT of printer ink.  I need a small background piece for the area of the layout I'm working on.  I'll look thru the LARC site and see if anything would fill the space.  Thanks for posting this.

Morning all.

Snow has melted on the streets and sidewalks, but the grass is still covered.  Didn't get much accomplished yesterday, trip to Target and Best Buy this morning and will watch the Hawkeye Women's BB game this afternoon.

Morning all.

Rain wouldn't be so bad.  We have a blizzard going on now.  Looks like at least 2 inches and it's really coming down.  Glad I didn't have to go to work today, but we did have a 0730 meeting online.

Fired up the other set of new locos which worked well and managed to get about 3 feet of track painted Wednesday.  Maybe some more layout work today.  Or computer games and YouTube videos.  I don't think I'll be out driving in this.

Morning all.

Hump day.  Nothing planned.  Maybe I'll get the other set of F3s out from my auction winnings and see how they run.

What an interesting looking structure.  So many angles.

Morning, all.

Pretty cold and windy taking out the garbage/recycling this morning.

Hopefully some layout work today.

Looking forward to your build, Bob.  I always learn something new.

To make sure everything lines up, and I need to make the road grade crossing, I temporarily installed a piece of track for the siding.  The building clears my longest passenger cars, but I should probably get a couple of steamers past this as well.  Note there was a derailment when the locos picked the switch on the left.  The tortoise which was hot glued here had fallen off and was only held on by some tape.   :o  This was removed and will need to be re installed.

Thanks, Dave.  Yes, a water tower on the roof would add more interest.

Morning all.

Played with some different building arrangements yesterday and will work on that area of the layout today as well.  I did get some recent winnings of a large auction.  The turntable was something I made a bid on just to follow and see how high it went.  Even with shipping and their 20% fee it was still about 60% of what a new one cost and it's new in the box.  I only wanted one set of the California Zephyr F3s, but I bid on both, hoping to win one, and well, I'll find a use for both.  this set is used, but no wheel wear.  It's missing a windshield wiper, but I can live with that.  They are already programed, have Kadees, and are perfectly speed matched.

A very impressive building.  The lighting really shows it off.

Finally, I "cut down" the ITLA modular structure by one story.  This is much better to scale and covers the area quite well.

The final shot is an overall look at the area, comparing all the building heights.  Another advantage to moving the siding and eliminating the flop house is that now there's a big area in the front for a structure.  I could remove the green roof building and maybe put an FSM kit in here.  Hmmm...  I'll sit on these ideas for a few days and see how I like them.

Next, I mocked up the rear wall of another ITLA structure kit I have here.  It's much smaller,  not near as overpowering as the modular mock up,  but doesn't cover the hole quite as well as I'd like.
