Hi All:
Ordered this kit from Artie A few days ago. He asked me to build it on the forum so I'm stopping work on the Sierra West Engine Kit until this one is done.
Here's A pic of the kit.
Karl
Karl,
I just saw this one on the Bar Mills website and was intrigued. Your build is very timely. Maybe you'll convince me and make a sale for Artie (probably).
Build on!
--Opa George
Hey George:
Yeah it's a very nice looking little kit. I'll see what I can do with it.
Karl
Karl,
Not seen or heard but I'm here as well. Looking forward to this one.
Tom ;D
I like the look of that little kit. Looking forward to see what you do with it, Karl!
John
Karl,
Didn't Art base this kit on a structure on the F&SM?
Neat. I have a couple of the other Cranberry Yard structures (still in kit form) but never noticed this one. I'll be following along! ;)
Jerry,
No, it is not based on any building on the F&SM.

Frank
Frank,
Thanks for answering my question.
I'm in too Karl..... :)
Hey All you Guys:
Thanks for following along with this one. Here's a few pics of my progress so far. I did not paint the stone base. I merely added some color to separate stones with some powdered color and Black A&I wash. Also painted the doors and bricked up window. Walls are together with Door and windows installed. Hope it looks OK.
Karl
Karl, very nice. Is the stone base a single casting, or is each wall a separate casting?
--Opa George
Hey George:
The stone walls are one casting. Not separate walls.
Karl
Karl,
Stonework looks great, really like your base & trim colors, too.
Karl,
Dang, a day or two and you are about to finish it. Looks great also.
Tom ;D
Karl,
Looks great so far.
Frank
Hi Jerry, Tom & Frank B:
Thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated. Here's a few progress pics. I fixed the rafter tail that's sticking up.
Karl
Looks really good Karl.
Very nice work, Karl. The stone coloring is spot on.
Opa George
Really nice Karl. :D The coloring and weathering overall looks terrific.
Good as always. Those rafter tails - are they one piece laser cut?
Karl,
As you say, "It's coming along nicely". Well done my friend.
Tom ;D
Hey George, Reading Bob, Bob D and Tom:
Hey guys thanks for the great compliments. Much appreciated.
Karl
Hey Guys:
This is finished except for the main roof. The instructions suggested adding A banister to the stair railing. I did this and also added them to the platform railings. It give it A more finished look.
Karl
Looks good Karl. I might pick this one up.
Karl,
Your tower build is looking great. This Bar Mills kit has a nice design.
Everyone loves a signal tower for their RR !
Tommy
Looks good, Karl. Very nice detailing and the colors go well.
Opa George
Hey Steve, Tom & George:
Thanks for the great compliments. Much appreciated as always. Finished this one up. Instead of folded pieces of paper on the roof peaks I used Separate cap shingle. I make them by cutting 1/8" x 1/8th inch pices of light card stock.
Karl
Very nicely done Karl.
Karl, another triumph. I really like the roof, too.
--Opa George
Karl,
Wow, fantastic job on the tower.
Tom ;D
Hey Curt, George And Tom:
Thanks for the great compliments. Much appreciated.
Karl
Well done Karl.
nice work Karl! love how the stones came out. Nice to see the chimney isn't above a window like in the old Atlas Switch Tower, ha ha!
Hey Steve & Bob:
Thanks for the great compliments guys. Much appreciated.
Karl
very, very nicely done.
I always enjoy your work. I would though, like you to update your blog more often. I ordered two kits from Bar Mills today, not the one pictured, but you can pass it on to them, that you influenced me to purchase those kits due to your continuing efforts. Please keep posting, and I hope they continue to send you kits to work on.
Thanks for your efforts, Mark
