Kit Building / Re: FOS Yard Office Three Build
December 22, 2021, 12:00:19 PM
Nice work on the plaster walls. I have to do something similar - I just have to remember to stop at looks-good-to-me.  8)
BTW the plaster section is from an old Ed Fulasz design (Kit #2½: "The Office").  I have a copy as produced by Jimmy.

Oh yeah I hope Doug continues to release Ed's kits

If you can find one of the rare kit #1, "Turn of the Century Mill" is great old northeast US mill structure.

I have a copy of Jimmy's kit (Railroad Kits) Ed's  #2½, "The Office" in a box

I built a number of kit #3, "Three Story Tenement to Let "

And the Cranberry Warehose (kit #4: "Break Time"). This one can be expanded with some very nice brick and/or wood expansions

I built kit #5B (brick) "Three Story Tenement with Garage": There's a C version (clapboard)

Kit #8, "The Old Stone Warehouse" is one of my favorites. I've got one of Doug's versions on the shelf. Plus 1/2 of Jimmy's - I used the other half as a background structure on a friend's switching layout.

Kit #09: "The Mill" can be reconfigured or kitbashed into all kinds of interesting complexes.

Kit #013 "The Used Car Lot" comes in B (brick) or C (cinder block). I love the cinder block variation and hope Doug releases this one.

Kit #014: "Corner of Main & Smith " consists of three structures. And like a few of the others I have one of Jimmy's sitting on the shelf. All kinds of of opportunities to customize these.

Here's a pick of my Kit #3 for 2004(?)

Well I've been poking around a bit but like many folks I keep getting the...

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

To the best of my limited knowledge a 403 error is generally a server side issue. So there's really nothing you, nor I, can really do.  Fish around some, maybe even post (though that could be fraught).  I think we need to wait until Joe gets it fixed.

I noticed today that there's a Plesk generated web page. Looks like progress to me.

The Official F&SM Layout Thread! / Re: FSM Building
October 24, 2020, 07:42:23 AM
I have one of the original CC Crow structures...

Quick scan of the photo in the kit.

Here's what came in it...

Note the plans say it's "153 of 200."

You'll need to add a lot to create the FSM building from the F&SM.  ::)

Like everyone else (99%) I went through the same process.  :o

I started to write a reply but it got long. I'm thinking it's a bit too late for 'us' but really need to get the message to those who follow, especially newbies and lurkers. Let me rethink my reply and start a new thread... If I had to do it differently.   ::)

Looks good. I like that trick with the louvered shutters. I'll have to try that.

Kit Building / Re: Suggestions For Second Build

A company called Monster Modelworks has recently returned to making some of the best laser-cut brick. Jimmy Simmons has great ideas, wonderful products, and he's all-round good guy.

If you want to try something different, the brick engineer's tool shed looks like it's right in your wheelhouse...
