Kit Building / ITLA Modular Industry
April 07, 2024, 08:28:17 PM
This structure is made form ITLA industrial Wall Modules.  This will go where the cardboard mock up was on the layout if you've followed my Layout Build.  There are several different wall modules.  Different widths, brick vs concrete, window types and one with fire escapes and another with a large loading door for train entry.

Morning all.

I slept really late and I'm still the first one here?  No cinnamon rolls, sorry.

The sump install worked well, and I didn't even need a trip to Lowe's for parts!

Minimal work on the ITLA kit, but hope to get to it later today.

Exciting game (too exciting) for the Hawkeye women's team last night in the final four, they're going to the final but I don't think any team can beat South Carolina.

Morning all.

TGIF and I have a four day weekend.  I didn't fix the sump pump Wednesday, and I need to go get some PVC pipe later today to do the job.  The rain/snow has stopped (it snowed Wednesday), and it's a beautiful clear morning here.  The picture is the view out the back door this morning.

Hope to work on the ITLA structure later.  Two more walls to trim, then gluing/painting.

Morning all.

We've had a lot of rain over the last 24 hours, which is good.  What isn't good is I have a dead sump pump.   >:(
No flooding, as there is a second sump pit whose pump is working.  Years ago I had a "basement water remedy" company put in two new pumps with battery back ups.  I had hoped they'd get better commercial pumps (later I found out the Zoellers are about the best), but they used the same kind and cost me $$$.

I have a haircut appointment this morning, meeting my Doctor this afternoon and probably sump replacement in between.

Morning, all.

Happy April Fools Day!  Hopefully no tummy aches this morning from too much Easter Candy.

Trash/recycling is out.  Trip to the grocery store on the agenda for later.  Maybe more work on the ITLA structure and starting a build thread.

Morning all.

Hump Day.  I'll be cleaning and straightening up the basement as my son and his family will be coming this weekend.  I had to clean the track where the ties got painted, and ran a couple of trains to make sure everything was in working order.

My ITLA kits came, I've started looking the one over and will get to it, probably after the kids leave Sunday.

Morning all.

A 50 degree morning here and the rain is supposed to start soon.  We could really use it, so I'm not complaining.

Jim's 1905 truck from a couple of days ago was pretty cool.

Craig has posted his new kits are available.  I don't need any more kits (ordered only 2 ITLA kits last week ::) )but the Scrap Merchant's place will probably find a spot on the Empire somewhere.

Maybe some layout work later, and will watch the Hawkeye Women's BB game tonight.   Time to take out the trash and recycling.

Morning all.

Glad I'm not working this weekend with the time change, I got up at my normal time, which is now an hour later.   ::) Hopefully by Tuesday I'll be more in sync.

Will watch the Hawkeye women in the Big Ten final later this morning.

Raining here, but that's good, we really need it.  I have a four day weekend, and hope to get some work done on the layout.

Slept late, but I'm still the first one here.  No plans for today except for a trip to Costco to pick up some new glasses.

Eight degrees here this morning as our spring weather has gone.

I'm off to get a haircut in an hour, then a trip to Costco.

No other plans for today.

Morning all.

It's supposed to get up to 60 degrees here today.  Very warm for February in Iowa.

The window company is supposed to come this morning to finish installing the last four windows on the project started last year.  I'm glad it's not below zero today.

Maybe some bench time later.

Morning all.

Single digits here this morning, but we'll break the freezing mark later.

Did my taxes yesterday, but two support people couldn't seem to fix a problem that came up.  In fact, one just said she'd be back and signed off, never to return.  Will try again today.

I've done some touchups on the Deco kit, hope to get to the next step today.

Morning all.

You "Easterners" (my mother called them "snobby Easterners"--my dad was from New Jersey) sure sleep late.  Us midwestern folk have been up awhile, set out the trash and recycling bins, read the paper (it's really thin on Mondays) and are having breakfast.

Supposed to get to 50 today, we'll see.

the Tree Guys (that's the company name) are coming today to clear the yard debris from the snow storm of early January.

Work on the DD build later.

Morning all.

Supposed to warm to near 50 today.  We'll see if that happens.

Will work on the Tattoo parlor build some today, hopefully.

Iowa women's BB won last night in a game they blew an eighteen point lead.  Pretty exciting second half.

Kit Building / DD Luci's Tattoo
February 03, 2024, 04:29:01 PM
This is a build thread for Downtown Deco's Luci's Tattoo Emporium.  Mark Dalrymple's help on my layout dilemma showed that this building would fit perfectly in the town scene.  The building I used there is a Hardware store which doesn't fit the "theme" of the bad side of town.  But this tattoo parlor will.

Morning all.

Another day in the low 40s here.  I'm a bit disappointed as it was predicted to be in the 50s the last couple of days.  But it's cold, windy and gray instead.

Hit a bit of a snag on the Deco build, so I didn't get much accomplished yesterday.  Hope to do better today and start the build thread.

Trip to the grocery store later this morning is on the docket.

I'm always mindful of getting my roof stack/vents/chimneys perfectly straight.  This week I noticed this on the roof of the Culver's across from my office.

Morning all.

Foggy here again this morning, but were just above freezing and no rain/snow forecast.

Hope to continue the Gusano Loco build today.

Here's a picture I took when we went to California over Thanksgiving.  It's just sitting in the street in Monterey.  No historic sign/plaque to explain what it is or why it's there.

Morning all.

We're on a one hour delay at work due to freezing rain and snow in the area.  Our temp is right around 32, and should go up a tiny bit, so hopefully it will just be wet later, but I'm watching the road conditions.
