Haven't checked in while. Looking good Mark.

I keep looking at those drawings in the magazine and am amazed you can make sense of it all.

Hi Mark,

I'll be following this project with great interest. I already learned something from your first post. I need to eat more cereal.  ;D

I received the two magazines on Dec. 29 just as advertised by the tracking number. If you have any questions on a certain area of the magazine I can scan it.

QuoteBTW, I sent you a PM.

Hi Bernd.  I've looked everywhere I can think of for that PM and can't find it.  Just in case it's a double up, Dave has kindly put both articles up to download.  I have printed off the eight pages and put them in a clear file along with my other two photos of Jock's build.

Cheers, Mark.

The PM should have shown up at the top of the forum. It says "My Messages". It should have shown you have a PM. I'm sure I got the the right person when I sent it.

I was going to copy the articles for you when I got the magazines. I know you guys are having a tough time down there and just trying make life a little easier for you by helping out.

QuoteI've ordered both from E-bay. He may not have any of that date anymore.

Thanks for all that information, Bernd!

I knew others would be interested.  The flotation mine Jock built is a sensational build - one of the very best I have ever seen.  Do you intent to build it?

Buying from the USA is tricky at the moment for me, as USPS has frozen shipping to 21 countries, including New Zealand.

Please let me (us) know what you find when your two copies arrive, as it sounded like it might have been a two part plan.

Cheers, Mark.

Mark,

When I get the magazines, there are two, January 1964 and February 1964. So yes there are two articles, I'll see if I want to build it or whether I use parts. I'll see when the issues arrive.

BTW, I sent you a PM.

Just confirmed that those are the correct dates. Did a quick look on E-bay and found that they are available from this seller.

Here's a picture of the February issue which would be part two.

Good luck.

Mark,

I may have found the articles, yes there are two, of the year and month they may have been published by RMC. I have a paper index that comes or did come with the magazines. Unfortunately I don't have the 1964 series of RMC magazines. At least I couldn't find them at the moment. I scanned the index. This may be what you're looking for.

Hope this helps.

WOW, another nice diorama. The angularity of the scene is outstanding.

P.S. What happened in your second post?

Superb job John. The scene looks great. Just love those two buildings. Makes me want to get going on my roundhouse project.

Carl,

As I was staring at the last picture you posted with the single light in it, I thought that would look nice if it had a hanging light right in the center. I've often seen pictures of such entrances with a chandelier like light in them. Just a thought.

Also when I seen the clock tower it came to me that they make miniature clock faces that could have been used. Here's a link to those small clocks.  https://www.rockler.com/hardware/project-hardware/project-kits/wooden-clock-kits

Just a thought for your next project.

Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate your comments.  I'm working on the abandoned look.

The S&S RR is way too busy moving freight to bother with mowing the grass or trimming the bushes. I have a lot more details to add to the scene that will make it look less abandoned. Just adding a figure walking between the roundhouse and the locomotive works helped a lot.  Please stay tuned.

You're welcome. I wasn't going to mention the way it looked. Won't be abandoning this thread come hell or high water. I want to see what the layout will look like when done. Keep up the great modeling. I'll learn a bit more on scenery from following.

Morning all,

MRI news is that I will be having open heart surgery in November to replace the main Aortic Valve.

The bad news is that I haven't done any modeling in two days

Have a great day ya'll.

Tom ;D

Tom,

Went through that about 11 years ago. It'll be a tough first few weeks, but after that you'll be up and feeling a lot better. I know it's a scary thought having to do that surgery. Wish you the best of luck and a fast recovery.
