Good morning! More moving stuff on the agenda for me, today. My brother and I are still cleaning out my mother's house so we can sell it. This is not an easy task, my friends. I hope to get back to finishing my challenge build next week.  Better late than never. :-[ ;)  I hope everyone has a great day.

John - Peacocks are protected in Florida.  You are not supposed to kill them.  Our neighborhood got rid of the peacocks when one of the neighborhood kids decided to use them for archery practice.  Silent, but deadly.

Don't get rid of your peacocks.  They are decorative and most folks don't know their downsides.  Just don't name them.  It's harder to change your mind and exterminate them if you've named them.

Okay, the peacock's can stay as long as they behave themselves.

Good morning! It's cold here 27 degrees, last night - snowed but did not stick most of the day, yesterday. My train related activity, yesterday, was a couple hours in the evening working on some design concepts for the layout. That's it from here, I hope everyone has a great day.

How about everyone posting a couple pictures of their finished build on this thread so we have record of this years builds?
I'll just post a new heading for photos. Hopefully it won't get buried..

Sounds good! I found it.

We have an Amish family down the road that has peacocks - they supposedly keep the coyotes out of the chickens - we'll have one wonder into the yard and moezee around and then leave - usually with our GSD hot on its tail......

Interesting about keeping the coyotes out of the chickens. I'm not sure why that would work - the coyotes around here are very hard on the deer herd.  Especially the fawns.

We'll it's that time of the year again where April 15th is here. We had some excellent builds again and I applaud everyone who helped with putting build threads on the forum. If you haven't finished yet, continue on and finish at your pace. Hopefully we'll inspire other modelers to add to forum as we move on. Once again, Thank you! Raymo

Thank you for organizing the challenge once again this year. It motivates me to do a structure build thread - this year I will be finishing mine late. :-[  I will finish the build and the thread as soon as possible.

Morning all.

I can smell the weekend. It smells good.

Received some goodies in the mail yesterday, so I’m now able to finish the stone building on the tribute.

Does anyone recognize where the attached water tower comes from?

My guess is that it is from George's scratch build parts box.  The ladder is from a fire escape kit - I believe it is plastic. It is far enough back on the layout that George was not worried about the fine details. When I was taking the pictures and reaching way over the layout to get the closeup shots George commented that he was wondering how well some of the small details in the back of the layout would hold up to the closeup photographs.  I think they did pretty well.

Good morning! It is snowing here this morning.  Melting as soon as it hits the ground but it sure does look cold.  I worked on some design work for the layout last night - that is as close as I will get to seeing my layout room for the next few days. I hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks for the mental picture, John.

I look forward to the iPad renderings.  It sounds like it will be a lot of fun to create.  My friend, Neil, has a home built creeper that sounds similar to what you are looking at building.

Cheers, Mark.

Stay tuned for the iPad renderings.  I'm thinking of having a bridge with stationary legs that have pads designed into the layout. I have two places on the layout where hatches are necessary and I think I can use the same bridge for both locations. First, I have to go to the lumber yard and buy the wood I need for the project - I here I'm in for a shock with wood prices since the COVID shut downs.

Hey John:

Looking good so far. I'll be following along.

Great to have you along on the journey, thank you for the encouraging words.

John - the farmer will be very unhappy when he learns that peacocks are terrible.  They are big birds and their "leavings" are stinky.  Also, they screech at night and sound like a woman being attacked.  Additionally, they like to roost on pool screens or roofs.  They will come up next to your car and, upon seeing their reflection in the paint, will peck spots of paint off the area.  We had them in our neighborhood and it was a real problem getting rid of them.

Judge

You make some good points about the peacocks.  I just thought the looked good there. If the peacocks get out of control and start causing trouble the Beach family has very quick and easy ways of dealing with them, living in the mountains has its advantages.

Good morning! Great pictures from a great layout this morning.  That was a fun trip. I'm heading back to work on the cleanup of my mother's house this morning. We just need to power through this. I hope everyone has a great day.
