Morning all,

Worked late last night.  Working late again tonight.  I already made up my mind to move retirement date up by at least 6 months.  Maybe more.  Two years, eight months sounds better than three years, two months.   ;)

Memories from the Altoona EXPO in 2017.  John (S&S RR) and I did a little rail fanning while we were in the area.  Good times!   :)

Have a great one!

Morning all,

Back to work.  I didn't get as much done on the build yesterday as I would have liked but I did start cutting out parts to build a 'core' for the building that will hold the lighting circuits.   8)

Here's an old picture from the Enola yard I took a long, long time ago.   ::)

Have a great one!

Morning all,

T.G.I.T!  Okay, I have tomorrow off.   :D  Maybe I'll gather my tax stuff together tomorrow and get that in the mail to a friend who does my taxes for me.  Aside from that I'll spend the day at the workbench.  Just have to survive one more work day today.

Have a great one!

Morning all,

So sorry to read about Curt's mother being hospitalized yesterday.  The entire family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I got a book in the mail yesterday, "Reading Company Cabooses", which I thought I wasn't going to be able to get my hands on.  I had it on my X-Mas list last year but my son told me that it was no longer available, on Amazon, at the original price (roughly $50).  Sure enough, it was on Amazon at $181 last week with only one in stock.  I did a search for it on the web and found it, on sale for $25 with no shipping, at Ron's Books.  I see a used copy is available on Amazon today for $51.  I'll keep the new version for half the cost.  :P

Have a great one!

Morning all,

Just another Monday pecking away at the keyboard.   :P  Got a lot of workbench time in over the weekend.  A build thread update is overdue.  ::)

Have a great one!

Morning all,

I managed to get a fair amount of workbench time in yesterday.  A rare weekday session.  :D  I'm getting close to the point where I'll be adding roofing to Moscone's.   ;)

Have a great one!

Morning all,

Survived (barely) yesterday's marathon meeting day.  No workbench time.   :(  Gotta cure the this weekend.  ;)

Someone sent me this:  When we said we want things to return to normal, we didn't necessarily mean we want Tom Brady back in the Super Bowl!  ;D

One of the reasons I like rail fanning from this bridge is you can get some ideas for what's inside gondolas and how to color the insides.

Have a great one!

Morning all,

My workbench time yesterday was limited to a successful search for a small detail part I knew I had left over from a kit I built several years ago.  I have plans to use it for Moscone's to install a lighting effect I bought from Slim (I found that too).  ;D

Have a great one!

Morning all,

Well January is done and gone.  This week is PI planning week at work.   :(  If you know what that means then have pity on me.   ;D

Got the clapboard walls for Moscone's glued together yesterday.  For me that's always a major milestone in a build.  I can really start to see what it's going to look like.   :)

Sometimes I just like to take pictures to remind myself of the little details that can added to weather track.  Not that I'm laying any.   ::)

Have a great one!

Another day of meetings at the dining room table.  Maybe I'll squeeze some workbench time in at lunch time.  ;)

Morning all,

I did manage to get an airbrush session in yesterday at lunch.  A little progress here and there adds up.  ;)

Thanks again for the condolences, thoughts and prayers sent this way the other day.

We're getting our act together for the drive up to PA for the memorial service on Monday. We'll leave on Friday and drive a little over halfway.  Then we'll finish the trip off on Saturday.  I was on the fence between driving and flying however, after getting everything set up for the flights, my credit card wouldn't work so I simply said to heck with it and told the wife we were going to drive up instead.  Turns out the bank thought it was suspicious activity on my card and kept declining the transactions.

Have a great one!

Morning all,

The first day of the first five day work week I've had in quite a while.  I was getting used to those short weeks/long weekends.  I'll have to make a few of my own in the coming months.

I got a the walls braced for Moscone's Bail Bonds this weekend and the detail parts cleaned up and ready for a coat of primer.  Maybe I'll slip in a little work here and there throughout the week.   :D

Have a great one!

Kit Building / FOS Moscone Bail Bonds - 2021 Build Challenge
« on: January 02, 2021, 12:08:07 PM »
Here's my choice for the 2021 Build Challenge - the FOS Moscone Bail Bonds.  I'm not sure where this one will end up when it's done.  Could be on a shelf in my garage or it could end up on a layout somewhere else.  ;)

For today it'll be just the obligatory box and contents shots.  When I'm done here I need to the hit the workbench and start gluing stuff together.   ;D

The box.

The instructions are on top.  I've perused them a couple of times already to get a feel for what's coming my way.

Some individual bag of components, castings, Durham's Water Putty (there are stucco walls) and strip wood that used to be held together by a rubber band that has dried out and fell apart.

The main walls and some acetate for the windows.

And finally a few templates.

I'm kind of happy to have my feet back on land and in familiar territory after the Sea Port Build.  That one was fun but, as always, it's exciting to move on to something new.   ;D

Thanks for following along!

Morning all,

Well, back to work for today and tomorrow.   :(  I think I could easily get used to this not working stuff.   ;)

I wrapped up the boat build.  I just need to take some final pictures and update my build thread.   :D  Just in time to clean off the workbench and kick off a new build for the new year and the challenge.   ;D

Have a great one!

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Monday - December 21st - The Winter Solstice
« on: December 21, 2020, 07:42:54 AM »
Morning all,

Welcome to the shortest day of the longest year ever.  ;)  Also happens to be my better half's birthday.  Juniors birthday is tomorrow.  Neither one likes hearing Happy Christmas or Merry Birthday.   ;D  ;D  ;D

I think all I have left to do for the boat build is put the mast in place, run all the rigging and attach three or four final details.  I should be able to wrap this one up so I can start the Winter Build Challenge on time.   ;)

Have a great one!
