Dioramas / Re: Bleat - a 009 exhibition layout

Still working on the new layout. I commissioned a new backscene of the local Quantock Hills which I think will work well with the presentation.

Good morning from the UK. Yesterday saw Storm Isha hit the UK with 80 mph winds and lots of rainfall. Lots of trees down today. Quiet day for my birthday with a nice meal planned with the wife and maybe a little modelling.

Keep on steaming!

Thanks for all the comments Guys - much appreciated.

Jan pre-Covid I had an invite to Ontraxs and Lyon which were both cancelled. I have heard nothing since. However I have twelve invites in the UK for this year so far, so I will be busy.

009 is the British version of HON3. It uses 00 scale buildings alongside narrow gauge track with a similar track width to n-scale.

I am using Bachmann Double Fairlies and Kato/Peco Small Englands which operate in North Wales on the Festiniog railway. These are all DCC sound-equipped. Coaches and wagons are either by Peco or Bachmann.

The new layout is due at it's first exhibition in 8 weeks time. It comprises of three boards 2 by 4ft and 1 by 3ft - just 15 inches wide. This allows the layout to be conveyed in one car. All track is 009 by Peco which has been laid, wired and ballasted.

The layout will feature a Magnorail peddling cyclist and some Viessmann pecking chickens. I also hope to incorporate Inter-action's Moonshiner's Cabin. Whilst this is not strictly 00 scale I am sure the rocking chair is sure to intrigue.

Dioramas / Bleat - a 009 exhibition layout

Bleat is a small village somewhere in Wales. The community, served by the narrow-gauge railway, is very rural and populated with more sheep than people. Most of the structures are kits by Scalescenes, Petite Properties or Scale Model Scenery. All the locos are DCC sound-equipped, you might glimpse a peddling cyclist near the local church and the pecking chickens in the farmyard.

Good morning from Somerset.
It has been a long while since I posted. It is great the forum is back up and running. During my time away I have been exhibiting my three exhibition layouts 12-16 times a year between them. In the next eight weeks I have four exhibition invites. The fourth one is in eight weeks time and the layout will be a new one in 009. It is bare boards at the moment but I hope to share some pictures of it coming together with the forum.

Happy weekend everyone.

Well I suppose someone has to open....................Back from a cruise to Southern Spain. The spanish have to wear masks outdoors. try telling that to people trying to get a tan! Your nose and forehead would have a tan and the rest of you would be lily white! February 11 is the big day when all regulations in England are relaxed. Wales and Scotland plough their own fields. I have dug out a few unfinished models to try and get them over the line. More later.
Have a great day.

New Structure Kits / Re: Red Hook Wharf

I have one sitting on the spare bed behind me.  Building it is in the near future for me.  I want it to be the focal point/anchor for a 2' x 4' module that might be the starting point for a small 2' x 8' (or more) switching layout.  I've been pondering the design though.  A bit of design paralysis so to speak.   ::)
Bob,
Attached is a copy of my Red Hook Bay trackplan. I hope this helps.

Good morning from the UK. Last weekend Cheffley (Midsomer) was voted joint Best in Show at Frome. The show invites are starting to roll in as we come out of the pandemic - 13 so far for 2022. Hurrah! Modelling has taken a back seat while we get the new house in order. But I did have time to build this little beauty. Off to Southampton docks today for a little bit of R&R off-shore...............Have a great day.(I am sure Jeff will know what the model is)

Good luck with the move. Property prices in the UK have increased during the pandemic. Where are you planning to move to?

Layout Tours / Re: FOS Caldwell Junction
December 26, 2021, 11:07:31 AM
I'm putting Caldwell on hold for the moment. I am not happy with the width of the boards. An extra 6 inches would make a great deal of difference to the feel of the layout. However the boards will not be wasted as I intend building a narrow gauge Austrian style layout on them while I ponder on Caldwell.
