Frank,
Can't wait to see your railroad featured for a second time in the annual Great Model Railroads magazine.
You inspire us all to be a better modeler. The steel mill and the future city scene area will keep you busy.
Thanks for sharing these new photos of your beautiful layout.
Tommy

Tommy,

Thanks for your kind words. You are going to have to wait a while because this is a big area to complete. And then there getting Lou Sassi out here and finally getting it into the GMR issue. I figure 2-3 years for completion. Stay tuned.

You bet I do, but I console myself knowing I'm doing the building prep work.

Good Morning All,

Progress is slow but ongoing. Here are a couple of new photos of the overall area along with an almost finished photo of the MW storage area. I have started a SRMW Currier & Sons. Lots of interruptions makes the build quite difficult. The good news is that it is going to get hot in the next couple of days, and i'm going to be in the train room, not working on the yard. Summer appears to be here in Arizona. Once must do any yard work very early otherwise the heat will get you.

The only good news is that our tomato garden is producing. Now i'm not a tomato fan, but my wife, neighbors and grandchildren are, so i tend and pick the garden. The plants are about four feet tall and very prolific. We probably have a couple more weeks of picking before the heat really does a job on the plants. I just water then and pick them.

Have a safe Memorial weekend and remember - play with trains.

Tom,

Thanks for your kind words. I had a bit of a mishap today. I was looking at placing a large building (nine stories) somewhere at the back of the layout to potentially hide track and give the impression that the cityscape continued beyond the background. I put the building down on the layout after looking it in a potential location. After a few minutes , i picked the structure up and proceeded to move it to another location. Well this building is about 16 inches tall and has a bit of weight to it. Moving it to the right, i completely forgot about the raised bridge and highway. You guessed it. WAM. Things fell down and a few expletives were muttered. After a quick review, everything that moved was able to be put into its original position. Whew. Needless to say, i need to be a bit more careful when moving large objects around the layout. I can thankfully say that I can't remember ever doing this before. ( That does not include any prior memory losses. It has been over 26 years that I have been working on this monster). My motto is now - look before you move anything!!! And NO, I did not take any photographic evidence of the mishap.

Frank,

I did that same thing several years ago. Don't remember what it was I did. The good news is that now when I think I "may drop this", I take a break and rethink the process.

I totally spaced it. Did not even think about what was in the way. My bad. A true sign that i am getting old. It won't happen again ( it says here in the fine print).
