Tom ...

Iíll bite.  What is a patois? ???

See ya
Bob

Bob,

A patois is a dialect of common people of a certain region. As an example, we as railroad modelers, speak a form of patois. For a 2-10-0, the Pennsy called them Hogs while non Pennsy people called them Decapods.  We refer to 4-6-2 as Pacifics, etc. and etc.

The term Patois can best be described in language as slang or a dialect from a specific group of people.

An example would be like your closing of "See ya" is like a Jamaican saying, "Walk Good" or "Me soon come".

Now, aren't you glad you asked bredren, bread ran/brethren, (friend)? ;D ;D ;D

I haven't posted to this thread in quite some time but since I can't work on the layout I'll add a little more to this thread.

The pictures shown above are of the older version of the A&S RR. I learned the paper and white glue mountain siding from Howard Zane. On one of my visits he was using the paper and glue to form some of his terrain.

Here is a fast forward view of the mountain side with light scenery. I say light as I wanted to get scenery on the layout and then make it more dense later. I never finished the scenery on this portion of the old layout.

More in a few.

In this next picture you can see in the distance the "N" scale roadway tunnel. I used the "N" scale portal to show some depth perception in the scene.

The railroad tunnel in the next photo is "HO" scale.

The next photo shows an "HO" scale railroad tunnel portal.

Very nice modeling Tom.

Curt,

Thank you my friend. I wish you could have seen the old layout and you'd really get the reason I wanted to change to a Florida style layout.

Here are several pictures of the small lubritorium area on the layout. This area is between the old roundhouse and the mountain cut.

This was my first attempt at adding a dirt road across the tracks including water puddles.
