Tom ...

Iíll bite.  What is a patois? ???

See ya
Bob

Bob,

A patois is a dialect of common people of a certain region. As an example, we as railroad modelers, speak a form of patois. For a 2-10-0, the Pennsy called them Hogs while none Pennsy people called them Decpods.  We refer to 4-6-2 as Pacifics, etc. and etc.

The term Patois can best be described in language as slang or a dialect from a specific group of people.

An example would be like your closing of "See ya" is like a Jamaican saying, "Walk Good" or "Me soon come".

Now, aren't you glad you asked bredren, bread ran, (friend)? ;D ;D ;D

I just got caught up on this thread - very interesting to see what you took out. I recently found a bunch of pictures of my old layout - I need to put a throw back Thursday thread on my to-do list. My pictures are the only fashion printed on photographic paper so I will have to scan them.

John,

Thanks for checking in. I forgot all  about this thread. I need to keep it going.

Its interesting to me as well to go back and see the old layout. It was nice but definitely needed to go.

Tom,
Nice scenes!  I like the trackside shots, makes for realistic views.

Thom,

Thank you. The track level scenes do look better.

Morning all,

I really like all these Saturdays. I dug out my Charlie Brown Christmas tree yesterday. Well, actually I found it looking for something else.

The Judge is coming by this morning and I think a few others may stop by as well. Great BSing and BBQ is always a must on Saturdays here.

Ya'll have a great day.

Here are a couple of over all photos of the area showing the completed fence.

I have many more details to add to this area. I did add a few weeds in the cracks and along the fence line. I've added a few spare pipe parts as well. Many many, more will be added.

More in a few.

You can see in the previous photos the scenery is still wet as evidenced by the dirt road.

I also finished the chain link fence. It was a fun project but very tedious and time consuming. Although I think it was well worth the effort, it will be a very long time before I take on this project again.

Here's a look through one section.

I planted a few palms around Caldwell Junction. Caldwell Junction is the name of the FOS kit here. It is also the maiden name of my Aunt Jane, Caldwell without the Junction. LOL!

Well, I've been quiet on the layout thread but not quiet on the work. There are many updates, mostly scenery wise. I've been updating some old faded scenery areas as well as finishing the fuel facility area.

I'll have a few up dates later this afternoon.

Looking great!  Interesting to see Florida scenic layout as opposed to the usual Northern or western interpretation.  Jim

Jim,

Thank you, your kind words are appreciated. Once the Babe and I visited Cliff Powers and his wonderful MAG Route, I knew this new layout was a matter of time. I love how he captured the look and feel of the South.

I told Cliff, "I'm gong home, rip out my old layout and plagiarize all I can into my version of a North Florida, South Georgia layout theme."
