Morning, all.

Freezing rain here in beautiful Cedar Falls this morning.  It's not keeping the patients away.  It's always interesting that the least sick people come out in the worst weather for me to tell them it's a virus and there's not much to do for it.

That sure turned out nicely, Bob.  I'll use your thread for reference if I ever get around to building my WKLO kit.   :D

Morning, all.

That's some layout, Mike.  We had a surprise blizzard yesterday with about 2 inches of snow falling in an hour or so.  I have a project to help with today, my wife is repainting her quilting room, so I need to move some stuff and spackle some holes and prime the areas she can't reach.   :P  I'd like to see Raymo model the chains on that truck in HO scale.   ;D

Your build is coming along beautifully.  I always thought something was "wrong" with this structure when I saw it on Doug's site.  Your posting the old signs made me think that the hanging Kodak sign is too modern for the rest of the signage on the structure.  Checking the Kodak logo history, that type of sign probably wasn't used until the 1970s.  I would think all the other signage would be updated by that time, but maybe that's just me, and I could be wrong.  My wife says I'm wrong most of the time.   ;D

Morning, all.

My third Saturday off in eight months.  Some 1:1 painting later.   :P I'd like to get the challenge project finished in the next two days, but I doubt it will happen.

Morning all.

I can actually say TGIF as this is the first weekend I haven't worked (except for the EXPO and trip to Vegas last fall) since I started here in June.  We'll see how the new improved schedule works.   :)

Great job on the parts.  I really like the mortar and pestle, since I was a pharmacist at one time.  The street tracks in the photo look odd.  Under the trolley it looks like two tracks, one centered on the car and one on it's right side.  The left side rail must be the whitish line.  Cool photo.

Thanks Greg and John and John.   :) Using some of the pictured raw umber, I weathered the outside lightly.  The oil paint mixes with water or oil (I don't understand it, either).  If you put a small dab on the wall and drag it down with a wet brush you can get some interesting effects.  I've attached the outside ductwork as well.  Working on the detail parts, like the brick stack and the small coal door in the one picture.  An interesting and usually neglected detail.  I was horrified that the sign with the frame around it wrinkled up when I washed the sides with the umber/water mixture.  It flattened out afterward.   8) I attached all three signs with a glue stick, and the other sign stayed flat.

Looks like it will fit well there.  That short train looks like it's being pulled by a Chicago Northwestern Locomotive.  I didn't think they went that far east.   :)

Tom, there are many paint colors to try for bricks, I don't think blood is one of them.   ;D  Let's be more careful.

Supposed to warm up here as well.  That Boston and Maine, stealing our CB&Q Zephyr designs.   :)

Thanks, Vince.  I'm not ambitious enough today to weather the structure.  Built a couple of pallets that are included as details.  The "runners" are a bit too long, as the first pallet seemed too big, especially when I compared it with some others I have here.  Plus, I only had 3 top boards left.   So I cut the one back to size and the second will be a couple of boards short.

Morning, all.

Worked my last "weekends only" shift.  Now I'll be on a rotating shift.  We'll see how it works out.  Nothin' planned for today, except computer games and some bench time.
