Heading over to the layout house soon. Biking today and boating tomorrow...but should have a few hours in between. My MR goals include hand painting the last pristine turnout to match the rest of the track, cleaning all of the rails and running trains a bit. I'd also like to package up a loco to deliver to Tom next week for some custom paint...I'm still stymied as to where I stashed my C&DR decals, so while the train is running round and round, I'll be ripping apart all of my storage trying to locate the Frary originals.

Have a great weekend! 8)

I love the Euro display layouts. Thanks for the pic. There's so much great work here lately (as usual)... I was at the layout house over the weekend and actually did a little work (hour here and an hour there). I inserted ties into the missing spots and painted the turnouts that were still factory black. I've got one more to do - but it's in a scenically populated area so I'll have to mix up some craft paints and apply it by brush to (hopefully) match. Heading back this weekend, so my goal is to finish painting track, scrub the track and run trains...it's been a while.

I'm also looking for my stash of C&DR decals that were generously donated by the original King. ACL Tom has agreed to paint a couple of my little locos and, if I can find the decals, I'll pack those along with my star talent. I'm a big new Year's guy...this is the time of year (for me) for reflection, analysis, planning, and inspiration and a better dose of hobby therapy is in the works for 2018. "Getting away" to the hobby room has been directly correlated to my state of peace and there just hasn't been enough in 2017. "YOLO" as the kids say...no time to waste living like a pinball.

Have a great day!

Great job Eric...I love this kind of modeling, where you can keep discovering more the longer you look at it. John S. posted some great pics too.

Morning All,

I wish I had known Frank was in town. Unfortunately, I'm swamped x2...enjoy your visit.

That listing for directions, templates and signs sounds dicey to me. It says Doug is Ok with it, but I don't know. Did he also promise he wouldn't keep a copy for himself? I suppose there is a debate here, but it's strikes me as profiteering on copyrighted material with just enough tweaking to be unenforceable. Let's face it, a craftsman kit manufacturer doesn't have the time or resources to chase down stuff like this or duping castings, etc...best just to grin and appear to be ok with it. I suppose once the limited kit is sold out it causes no loss, so...can't claim damages.

Anyway, I have my own problems  :)  Have a good day, play fair.

Congrats Mr. Seckler. Layout looks great! Nice way to wrap up your EXPO week...and kudos to Frank Baker and the beautiful station he built (here, for our enjoyment  ;) ) that was featured so prominently in the article.

Eric,

My sadness at missing the Expo was multiplied when I saw pics of a spectacular wharf scene. Please share some more pics!

Nice work!

Loren, you're right. Not sure what I'm going to do with that...I just wanted some sort of foreground trestle for scenic value. Maybe just a stubbed out deck next to a small structure. That steep downgrade will mostly be covered with downed lumber, stumps, trees, maybe some trash, etc...still thinking. ::)

Little bit of terrain shaping and a whole lot of thinking today...Don't want to get too far ahead of the backdrop guy!

beautiful work Frank! I can't wait to see it in print...although I just picked up GMR'18 and it's the first $10 magazine I ever purchased. I now understand why people sit there and read in Barnes & Noble. ;)

I'll make an exception for your issue!
