Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Saturday - December 16, 2017
« on: December 16, 2017, 05:32:29 AM »
Morning all,

I really like all these Saturdays. I dug out my Charlie Brown Christmas tree yesterday. Well, actually I found it looking for something else.

The Judge is coming by this morning and I think a few others may stop by as well. Great BSing and BBQ is always a must on Saturdays here.

Ya'll have a great day.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Saturday, Wet and Rainy - December 9, 2017
« on: December 09, 2017, 05:51:51 AM »

Morning all,

Wet, rainy and getting cold here this morning. Definitely not the weather I've been wanting after two weeks of the flu.

My Babe wants a day out so I'm spending the day with her. Maybe some train time later this afternoon.

Have a great day ya'll and stay warm.

Morning all,

Lots to do today so off to an early start.

It took me several hours yesterday to pressure wash the pool deck and walkway. After that, I just licked my wounds. Oh, to be in my 20's again.

Maybe some layout stuff later this afternoon.

My pictures today are of my first RTR Atheran boxcar. B&M  #74706, released in August 1957 at a cost of $1.98. Back then that was two months allowance for me. Yep, I still have the car and the box. I got this one for Christmas in 1957.

Ya'll have a great day.

Morning all,

Happy Veterans Day to all and a big thank you for all our veterans who served passed and present.

I couldn't get settled last night so I'm up but will crash later today for sure.

Not much else going other than spending the day with the Babe.

Have a great day ya'll.

Rolling Stock / The Devil isn't in the details, he's in the Brass!
« on: November 10, 2017, 01:10:39 PM »
Okay, I guess I have your attention now!

I've made several brass repairs over these long years of working/playing with brass locomotives. I guess I could have extended the Baker Brass thread but I want this one to be a stand alone.

The original thread is here.

http://modelersforum.com/rolling-stock/fixing-a-brass-erie-2-8-4-class-s-4-for-erieman/

The reason this thread is separate is I've never come across an issue with brass like I have with this one. I want to show ya'll the problem and how it was fixed.

This loco is a very good piece of brass. It is a United/PFM and was built by Fujiyama (Japan) in 1966. So, keep in mind the loco model is 51 years old. It is older than the prototype when they were all scrapped.

Here is the loco-

More in a few.

I got more scenery done on the layout yesterday, pictures later this afternoon I hope.

Morning all,

My Babe and I thank you all for the great birthday wishes. We had a wonderful day yesterday and a quiet dinner out last nigh.

Reading Bob, you are next.

Nice and cool (63) here in O'town. I guess I'll be forced to stay inside and keep building the fence, mine not Trump's.

Ya'll have a great day.

Morning all,

Rained here last night and is going to rain most of today. I guess I'll be forced to work on the layout and stay out of the rain.

Have a great day ya'll.

Morning all,

First day on the bike yesterday kicked my rear end. I thought riding 6 miles would be easier than the 6 miles walking I used to do. Not so, I only had enough quad power for less than half that for the first day out.

No, don't ride on the streets. I haul them to the local cemetery to ride. No one gets in our way and they don't ask us how to get to Disney. I did hear alot of laughing though.

Have a great day ya'll.

Morning all,

I just love Saturdays, they all seem to run together these days. Seems like everyday is Saturday.

Busy day for me as I'm spending the day with the Babe, maybe some modeling later this afternoon.

Ya'll have a great day.

Morning all,

Yesterday I worked on the layout and today I'll be doing the same. Reading Bob stopped by last night for a short visit and tomorrow Curt, PRR Modeler, is stopping by.

I hope the surgery went well for Chip's dog.

I should cut the grass today. The "should" means it will probably get done Sunday or Monday.

Have a great day ya'll.
