Morning. I purchased this bag of coal from Hal Reynolds at the big show this past weekend. Story is, when they checking out Jimmy's new casting purchase, George told Hal to take these big bags of coal. It comes in 2 grades, Coarse and Fine.

Frank Baker wanted me to get photos of George's display when I talked to him on Saturday afternoon. The 2 barges were scratch built as well as the ferry. The cranes were offered in small runs over the years and I don't think they are offered anymore. When I went over on Sunday to take these photos he had just sold the big barge for $1500.00 and was entertaining an offer for the smaller one.

« on: January 15, 2018, 06:10:25 AM »
Morning. Today is a lot of days, MLK Day or Civil Rights day, It's also the 99th anniversary of the Great Molasses Flood of Boston, where 2 millions gallons of liquid filled the North End after a poorly built tank let go killing 21 people and destroying a neighborhood, and it means this dreadful month is almost half over. Enjoy your day....

Forum Contests / Winter 2018 6"X 6" Build Challenge
« on: December 30, 2017, 07:15:14 PM »
This is it. Rules are simple, 6"X 6", 3"X 8", 2"X 12", or anything smaller. Detail or add on to it as you wish or build it straight from the box. If you want to make it part of diorama, have a ball. Try not to over complicate things people, it build threads on the forum we're looking for. Let's dust off them shelves and open some boxes. Use this thread to show us what your building and start a build thread under the Kit Building board. Tax Day will be here before you know it!

I discussed this with a few people at the EXPO and figured this would be a good time to ask.  My thoughts were it would run from New Years day to April 15th, Tax Day here in the states. 6"X 6"building or smaller, but if you want to build a building flat that's 2"X 12" or a building that's 3"X 8" that's OK too. Detail, modify, add lighting on to it as much as you want or build it straight out of the box. Doesn't have to be a diorama, but if you want too that's fine if you want to go that far. We all have plenty of these small kits stuffed in a box or on a shelf, so lets get some build threads going on this forum and help winter go by a little bit faster.  If there's plenty of interest, I'll start a thread on the Contest Thread Board. Let me know what you think.... Raymo

Kit Building / RailroadKits Franklin Electric Power & Light

I mentioned buying this kit in yesterday's daily thread and Jimmy asked if I could do a build thread on it. I was going to build a new CCK kit but that will have to wait till after.( Sorry Jeff!) Bob Seckler built the prototype that Jimmy has been showing since he brought it out at the big Springfield show back in January. My plan is to build it close to the build Bob did but with different trim colors. I'll probably do it up as a telephone company building for a future diorama with some Sylvan trucks.
