Afternoon all.....still cold.

Curt,  if you are going to the VA tomorrow, we should hear from you some time on Thursday.

Bob,  I did that a while back and found that if I can get down there, I take a long time to get back up.  Must have something to do with age.

Ok, here is the story as told by the Doctors office.

Medicare will pay for the removal of the clouded lens. they pay for the actual surgery.  They will not pay for the new lens because it will correct your vision and allow you to not require glasses.  This is considered to be "Cosmetic".

The cost of the Surgery is approx. $5000.00 per eye and Medicare will pay its 80% of that.
There is a basic lens that will not correct your vision and you will still require glasses and that lens will cost $125.00 per eye.  A lens that corrects your vision costs between $1500.00 and $2900.00 per eye and that is what Medicare will not pay for.

Medicare will pay for one pair of glasses after the Surgery, but if the surgery corrects your vision and you no longer need glasses, what is this for?  Typical Government.

Afternoon all.

Looks like I will be scheduling Cataract Surgery for some time in Jan.

Medicare has just decided that it is now considered "Cosmetic Surgery" and therefore they will not pay for it.  The price is over $3000.00 out of my Train Budget.  I guess that not going blind is "Cosmetic" and not a necessity......Ya Think ?

Morning all.

Going to replace my Digitrax Zephyr with a Digitrax DB150 Control Unit.  Not too much involved other then routing the Power Cord.
