F&SM Inspired Structures
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:32:51 PM »
I started this thread as a location for everyone to post pictures of structures that you have built that were inspired by the F&SM.  This thread was started at the request of John Elwood - thanks for the great idea John.

A great new thread - I'm gonna be watchin' this one, too!
But it's gonna be hard to beat George's creative mind when it comes to 'the run down and gritty real world'!
And the Ledbetters live on that side of the street!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

My first kitbash effort ever was inspired completely by the interesting lines of G. Willikers. I started with a Curtis Bros. Plumbing Supply by Paw of A Bear (very nice kit to build) and built an additional section which, I hope, is at least mildly familiar to FSM fans.
It's in N scale.

Thanks for starting this thread John. I've watched George build his fabulous FSM layout
from the very beginning. Most of my photos of the F&SM were taken with a film SLR over
the decades and are stashed away in albums. I do have several scratch built structures
referenced to those photos. Here is one to get this started.

Remember the Hotel Darby?  Here is my copy named after my youngest grand daughter.

Here is a background structure behind Fillmore Yard (photo from FSM DVD).

I scratch built a slight variation to complete a street scene above my yard.
It is my version of the Brown & Haley Candy Co. in Tacoma, WA. A copy of
their storefront sign hangs over the side walk on the left. There is modeling
inspiration all over the F&SM.
