Vaccine appointments are hit and miss where I am (suburban Phila).  So much so one of the Inquirer columnists looked into complaints she was getting from readers and focused on that situation rather than her usual subject matter.  That resonated around the area and the politicians got indignant with other politicians and phone calls were made.  We'll see how that goes.

Clear, breezy, chilly today, carrying through Monday. It is still March.

For you central Florida guys, those booms and thuds you experienced yesterday were balls hit by the Phillies sailing out of Clearwater.  They tattooed the Yankees.  It was enjoyable, at least for a game.

Enjoy your Friday everyone.

Checking in from SE PA where it's clear, a slight breeze, and chilly again. Warming trend next week we're told.

All have a good day.

Happy Hump Day!  First one of March.

Sunny as all get out, but still on the chilly side.  No breeze though.

Need to buy tax software and get cracking on that.

AC repair man coming today.  Another controller seems like it gave up the ghost.  Glad to find it now rather than in July. Of course, it won't be in inventory, so another visit needs scheduling.

All be safe.  Get well quick, Your Honor.

Slept in after a long session for the missus at U of Penn yesterday.  Those docs really know what they're doing.  Worth the effort on our part.  And where else can you park for hours in the downtown area (sort of) for just $8?

Tom:  We're all pulling for the Judge to get better and back on his feet.

Jerry:  Thanks for posting the photos.

Bob:  Is that beautiful downtown Schuylkill Haven?

Clear and windy today, chilly for sure.  Warming trend coming. Another week and I may be able to put the snow blower back in the shed.

Our disposition of the layout assets is starting to gain momentum.

All have a wonderful day.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Vehicles
March 01, 2021, 08:28:44 AM
I'm working with a couple of modelers to dismantle and dispose (sell off) a deceased friend's layout for his widow. He had numerous cars and trucks of course.  His era was early/mid 50's, so the span of cars and trucks covered the 20's to the 50's.

I've grouped the collection by decade.  The items from the 20's are all assembled plastic and wood models, painted and with some trim paint as necessary (lights, chrome).  I would think modelers doing or having layouts from that ear would be interested in acquiring some of the cars and such.

The vehicles out of the 30's and 40's appear to be a lot of the Dick Tracy collection that came out when the movie was in vogue. Also some straight job trucks including a couple REX.

The 50's are an accumulation from various marketers, but there are a good percentage of CMV items. Lots of pickups.

Question is, need some pricing guidance.  I've noted some comments on this site now and then regarding vehicles for the 20's, so I'm thinking members would have some ideas as to what they might be worth, much less if there's any market at all.

I simply am lost in so far as doing what is needed to be able to post photos here (or any other site).  I can send photos via email though.

Back to Phila this PM for wife's tests.  Then stop off at son #1 on the way home.

Always happy to have February in the rear view mirror.  March though is the cruelest month so the saying goes.

Phils pitching already showing weaknesses.  Well, it's only the first exhibition game.

Winds will start howling late in the evening bringing in cold.  But that's March.

Question for the group on another thread.

Damp, gray, chilly day here in SE PA.  Coating came down during the night. Heading to start dismantling my late friend's layout finally.  Driveway ice postponed us last week.  Sad task.  Sure there will be memories galore.

Wanted to start soldering feeders, but must have discarded my flux tube and forgot to get a new one.  Make the stop for that on the way home then.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

Morning, all!  Another Friday for the working people (who work M-F).

Clear sky this morning in SE PA.  Snow melt has been outstanding the last couple days. Pothole harvest hasn't begun in earnest, but it's started.  Time to get the roving road crews off the plows and on the trucks to fix the craters.

A task or two on the docket this AM.  Maybe get on the feeders in the PM.

Everyone work safe.

Top of the Thursday, all.

Heading up to Reading country shortly.  Will be down the street from Outer Station where RBMN parks #425 and the RDC's.

Get to drive up 422 in sunshine.  This could get habit-forming.

Proceeding with prep work for feeder drops on module.

All be safe, work smart.

Back from getting a haircut.  Pushed some ice dams off the gutters and moved snow out to the sun for melting. 50 already in SE PA (in the shade);  add 5 more for when in the abundant sunshine.  Used to be after a snow, temps would moderate quickly and start the melt.  Not so this season.  Well, it's almost done.

Couple of errands to run for the missus while she goes out with one of her lady pals.  Then start prep for dropping wires for the switching/test track/programming track....wire brush the track side, tin wires.  Drilled holes yesterday.  Usually I take that work outside in the natural light, but with a foot or so of snow, not really feasible now.

Enjoy what's left of the day.

Morning all (late morning that is).

Doug:  Unfortunately, rates vary by state and provider.  Just know that whatever level (by letter) plan you choose, the coverage is the same across the spectrum of providers.  So Co. A's offering for plan X will be the same as Co. B's....only the premium will differ.

So, choose the plan that best fits your needs.  I have  plan G for example.   It's more expensive than others, but I have more needs medically.

Consult with a broker/agent, asking if they rep for just one provider or a line of providers.  When I selected my first provider, I didn't shop.  I listened to the guy who came to see us.  A few months in, someone else (who I had dealt with for other services) showed us the same coverage with another provider....at $40 less per month.  We immediately cancelled the previous coverage for the new provider.

Good trip yesterday to Phila for the wife's medical situation.  Smooth, trouble-free drive down the Sure-Kill X-way. I checked the speedometer once or twice and we were rolling with the traffic....at 80 MPH!  Precip held off to after we were inside.  Wife got good news (problem can be "fixed").  Precip on the way home, but no problems.  Of course, driveway clearing again upon returning to the house.

So a lot of exhaling last night and today.  Prayers answered for sure.

I think I'll start drilling holes in the test/switching module for feeders today.

Everyone have a wonderful day.  "See" you tonight, Chip.

Sun shining away in SE PA.  Still pretty chilly this morning. Precip on the way early tomorrow.  Have to drive through it into Phila.  I'm a bit out of practice for traversing the Schuylkill Expressway.  We'll be hitting the road early.  Great way to start the work week.

"Balmier" temps come later in the week.  And no snow!!!

All be safe.

TGIF for the working people.

Misty precip right now in SE PA.  So that makes ice.  Luckily, no place I have to be this morning. Just a matter of waiting for the melt later today.

Nothing on tap I'm aware of, but for sure, the missus will address that.

All be safe.

Good morning, all.

TV man showed us this is one of the snowiest Februarys in their span of record-keeping (for SE PA).  Mere child's play for many of you in more northerly latitudes.

I did the spring training thing with my boys a couple years.  The youngest was on a semi-pro team out of Delaware that went to Fla and rotated around the camps to play the A rosters of the pro teams.  Won a couple as well.  We attended the game in Clearwater.  At the adjacent fields, the Yankee AA team played the Phils and on another, the Phillies pitchers were being schooled on fielding and covering bunts.  That was fascinating.  The exhibition games with the big league teams in the afternoon are ho-hum after five innings.

Our snow this time is light and fluffy until the sleet/rain comes in later. I'll have to be vigilant and get after it as soon as the reports of mix further south hit the air waves.   Another one supposedly on it's way Sunday night into Monday.

I figure I'll be cutting grass in about two months.

Take care.

Morning all.  Ash Wednesday today with all that signifies.  Sunshine this morning, giving way to clouds later that bring the white stuff (as Chip earlier reported). While this severely bad stretch of weather all across the country is causing serious dislocation and danger, it (1) kills a lot of the bugs (so I'm told) and (2), comes in mid-February, not January.  Pitchers and catchers report today at Clearwater, so better days are not that far off.

Stay warm.  Hope everyone's lights stay on or come back on quickly.
