Hi All:
Stating the Metzger Building Tonight. Reading the instructions at this point and studying the diagrams. Looks like an interesting build. Hope to get started on the walls tonight
Karl
I have this one but won't get to it for some time. Was looking it over the other night and wondering when a build thread would pop up. Picked colors yet?
Karl,
I will follow your build to. Looks like a very interesting limited run structure from FOS that is still available on their website.
Reminds me of the Ludlow Building that sold out several years ago.
Tom
Hi Dave & Tom;
Thanks read the instructions and starting on the kit today. Here's a photo of the stuff in the box.
Karl
Karl,
I'm really looking forward to your build on this one. I have it but it is way down the list as a build for me.
Tom ;D
Hi Tom:
Thanks. Walls, corner trim. freeze boards, windows and doors are painted Floquil Earth. By-the-way no bracing is added before I paint my walls. It just gets in my way.
Here's a photo on my bench.
Karl
Karl,
Are you using the newer water based Poly S Earth or the older solvent based Floquil Earth as your paint for this build ?
Only asking since I still use both types.
Tom
Hi Karl,
You know I'll be following along as well. If Doug hadn't premiered his new Red Light District kit at the EXPO I may well have come home with this one. As it turned out, however, I ordered the Red Light District instead. :D
Hi Karl.....this looks like it is packed with some interesting details, I look forward to keeping up with your build.
Hi Tom:
It is solvent based Floquil Earth.
Karl
Hi Bob:
Thanks appreciate it.
karl
Hi Greg:
Thanks. It's quite A kit.
Karl
Karl,
Thanks for advising the use of Floquil based Earth solvent paint for the walls of this build.
After reading your response , I had to go downstairs , put the fan on, and open a few bottles of that stuff
to paint several castings tonight !
Tom ;D
Hi tom:
sounds good. have fun OK.
Karl
Hi All:

Karl
Awesome, Karl! I am looking forward to building mine... Some day.
Vilius
Hi Vilius:
Thanks Appreciate it.
Karl
Hi Karl.....what are the dimensions of the building?
Great looking building, Karl. You must be awful tired of mounting windows, though. :D
Fos website says the footprint is 6" x 8"
Great work Karl. Again, I love the color...do you always use solvent based paints for walls?

Karl
Hi All:

Karl
Hi All;

Karl
WOW Karl. That's really first rate.
Hi Bob:
thanks really appreciate your compliment.
Karl
Karl,
Really nice build on this FOS Scale kit ! Is the reddish roof part of that kit or did you make or purchase another product to do it ?
Also since your scratch built Farm building thread from May 2014 is almost 1 year old on this Forum , and I just found it today, after seeing your posted photo of it, I remember that 2 part structure article in the December 1972 - January 1973 issues of RMC . I always liked the work of Rob Corriston and I had the honor to talk to him a very long time ago. Rob mentioned , way back when , that many of his structure articles that were submitted to and paid for by RMC never made it to print. You did a great job on that scratch built farmhouse and I am glad I found your photo of it tonight. I like the cast foundation you added to it also. You did him proud !
Tom Boyd
Nice job!
Karl,
Great finish to a great structure.
Tom ;D
Hi Tom Boyd, Long Horn and Tom L:
Thanks for the great compliments guy. appreciate it.
Karl.
Hi
all:
it is finished. here's photos.
Karl
Hi Tom Boyd:
Glad you liked the red roof. No it is part of the kit. I just painted mine with Krylon Colormaster Red Oxide Primer from K-mart. I think $2.00 for a big can. I don't like black roofs. The hide detail.
Glad you enjoyed the farmhouse. Built it on my desk at the post office while working the window. The customers loved my work. I gave it to a friend for his layout. All my buildings go to friends.
Karl
Spectacular build as always. Great kit as well. Thanks for sharing, Karl.
John
The build looks great Karl, thanks for sharing it.
Hi John:
Your are quite welcome.
Karl
Hi John s:
Thanks buddy appreciate it.
Karl
Nice going as usual Karl. An interesting downtown building.
Now I want to see that farmhouse. Can we see a photo or a link to it?
Karl, a well constructed building. You may want to consider adding some plumbing stacks/vents on the roof if they are not already there.
Marty
Great build, Karl. I like all the stuff on the roof, really makes it stand out.
Jeff
Karl .... can I be your "friend"? (I'll send you my address later) ;D
Seriously, GREAT work. Just beautiful.
Hi Marty:
There are 5 stack/Chimney castings on the roof. Thanks for the compliment.
Karl
Hi Jeff:
Thanks appreciate the compliment.
Karl
Hi Donato:
Thanks much appreciate the compliment.
