Here's my 2nd kit build to share with the forum.
Since it was done a while back, it's done in Floquil Solvent based paints.
5 PFM 1.5 volt bulbs were added with Campbell Lampshades over the doorways.
The roof sections are removable . Behind the fright house is the rear of the # 70 Flagstop Station that was posted yesterday.
Tom
Great looking build and welcome to the forum. It is really nice to see a new member posting.
John,
Thank You for those kind remarks.
I will post another completed build this week.
Hope that I can help make the forum better by sharing my work.
Tom
Nice job on the freight house, Tom.

As per your request here is the big version of your picture from the gallery. All I did was display the picture in the gallery. Copied the code in the BB code box and pasted it below.

Jeff,
Thanks for the positive remarks.
All the castings did receive a very light wash of Floquil Solvent Grimmy Black thinned with Dio-Sol.
That was done in the garage, not in the basement.
John just helped me out by enlarging the photo tonight that I posted.

Welcome to the forum, Tom. Great warehouse build. And you say this is only your 2nd kit build? You have a bright future in craftsman builds. Keep up the good work.
Nice work Tom and welcome to the forum. :D
Thanks for all the positive comments on the 2 builds !
Both FSM structures were build 30 years ago and have held up well after being moved 1000 miles twice.
More photos coming soon to share with the Forum.
Tom
Tom, I like the balance of the details and the colours.
Martin,
Thank You for the comment !
The photos are all taken with a very old digital camera and sometimes I have to take 10 different pics to get 2 good ones.
Tom
Very good work on the detail castings.
Jaime
Jaime,
Thanks for your comment and hope to see you back soon posting daily again on the Forum.
Tom ;)
Hi Tom:
Like that one too. Lots of nice detail. What would we do without all those FSM castings.
Karl
Karl,
THANKS for that positive remark !
What would we do without George's castings. Amazing what $36.95 would buy back then.
Tom
Hi Tom,
Nice build. If you completed this 40 years ago, did you have George's color ad in the June issue of Railroad Model Craftsman to work from. The instructions give hints of what colors to use for some of the castings, but I would love to see George's version.
Thanks -david

David,
THANK YOU for your comment on this build. Followed the instructions in this FSM kit to paint and weathered everything with Floquil solvent based paints. Not sure if George Sellios did a color ad of this freight house when it came out in 1976, but George had his built up freight house along with a sawmill diorama at the Chicago National NMRA convention back in 1976 and was able to talk to him their and take some photos for reference back then that helped as a color reference with my build. Currently George Sellios does not have this one on his layout, but it was on the early FSM layout at one time.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the information. If you were able to see the original, I think I will use your photo as a guide to painting some of the castings. One of the problems now with following George's instructions is that they no longer have solvent based Floquil paints. Heck they don't even have Polyscale anymore. I know there are websites that give other brand equivalents, but one of them had Model Master Military Brown as a substitute for Floquil Tuscan and I don't think it is even close.
Anyway thanks again -david
David...
Contact tru-color in Arizona. Talk to a guy named Owen. (I think). He can get you aimed at what crosses over. Be sure to tell him whether you are brushing or spraying. I order everything for brush and thin it myself.
See ya
Bob
Thanks Bob, There is even a hobby shop not too far from me that carries their paints -david
Hi Tom:
You are quite welcome. Always like seeing your work. Yep you got a lot in that kit for $36.95.
