Title: Cricut Explorer
Post by: LongHornCaddy on June 08, 2015, 03:53:21 PM
I love most everything about scratch building except cutting out windows and doors. I saw the video below and alas, my wife has one of these and I thought it's time to utilize it. Can anyone tell me if there is a site on the internet that offers a compatible (price friendly) Auto CAD program for this machine?

There's a -very long- but -equally informative- thread on using craft cutter machines here:  http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/79025-a-guide-to-using-the-silhouette-cameo-cutter/

It is worth going through all 40 pages.

How acurate would this thing be for cutting windows in scribed siding?  I developed a technique using an xacto chisel blade and now can cut out out windows in about 2 minutes time per opening.

@ Bob, from what I have seen, this machine zips through cutting windows and doors.  I just started reading the link Dave shared above.  Looks very informative.

I would buy one except it only works when your PC is connected to their website.  Cannot do anything off-line.
I do think it is a good machine if you don't mind that limitation.

There are many other machines out there that don't have the restrictions of the Cricut machine.  I've been tempted to get one (maybe if I go back to work to get more money to spend on trains and tools..... )
