Title: Workman's/Mueller's Cabinetmaker
Post by: jrmueller on June 23, 2015, 10:54:05 AM
Finally completed Workman's/Mueller's Cabinetmaker and Upholsterer, at least to my satisfaction.  May thanks to Jeff for the kit design and Dave Meyers for the signage.  Jim

Great model........... I'm a lay down for outside stairways.

So who is Joseph Mueller.......... that's not a coincidence.......

thanx

In reply to Bob's question. Joseph J Mueller was my grandfather. He was an immigrant from Austria-Hungry in the 1880's.  He wound up in Montclair NJ and opened a cabinetmaking shop with his brothers.  They specialized in making reproductions of Europian furniture for the wealthy people of that area who had gone on"the grand tour."  The shop closed when he retired in the late 1940's.

Jim...

Thanx ...

I had my suspicions that the name was not an accident.

Although I model the Boise valley here in downtown Idaho.... I have three structures that represent my grandfather or other family sorts of people that are purely Chicago where I grew up.

Thanx
Bob

I too honor my grandfather on my Dad's side in my modeling. Charles Henry Stevens was Chief Engineer of the Philadelphia Transit System for many years. The now demolished Market Street Elevated was built during his time in office. The still existent Fern Rock storage yards are blocks from where he lived (coincidence?).
In his honor, I have built an extensive subway layout beneath out condo basement. The only drawback to posting pictures is I don't have the stairway entrances and turnstiles modeled yet, so underground tours are a bit of a problem.  ;)
