Title: FH&E ( Well not anymore, but read the article to find out why)
Post by: bagman on July 02, 2015, 05:48:15 PM

Hi there

Some of you guys might have read the thread I started over at the "other forum" about the construction of my layout.

As part of the research into building the layout I joined the New York Central System Historical Society.

A while back I was asked if I would be interested in writing an article for the NYCentral Modeler about the layout.
I must confess I was very flattered as I certainly don't consider myself up to the calibre of some model railroaders I have read about their layouts in various publications etc.

So rather than repeat the story from the "other forum" I thought it would be easier just to post the link to the article.
Page 9 and page 76 are the stories about my layout as there are articles on 2 Aussie's both with the same first name !

Call me lazy !

Hope you find the article interesting reading

Cheers

David,
Great article on your prototype - freelance Saranac Branch of the NYC. Lots of photos, nice scenery, and a good mix of structures, and speaking of structures , how did you get those custom built models from Rich Cobb there in one piece ? Those stations, the freight house and the coal tower look fantastic !

Glad you liked the article Tom. Not quite sure what happened, but in the original article sent for publication I had mentioned the work you did on restoring "old # 66".
Perhaps lost in translation ?
Anyway, for the record it was you who did all the restoration work on that NYC 2-8-0, which was well documented by you in a post on the "other forum".

Cheers
David

Besides being an absolute master model maker Rich is a genius when it comes to shipping.
Lots of bubble wrap along with those foam balls and a box within a box ensures safe arrival to Australia.
With all the structures that Rich has built all have arrived safe and sound.

David,

I understand why the info was cut as it didn't really add to the NYC story/article. I'm just happy we got the NYC 2-8-0 running with decent sound. No one should have to go through what you did.

Again, great new layout and fantastic article.

Tom ;D
