At this price I might consider selling the Jordans that I have. Anyone willing to pay?  8)

I think I have about 50 Jordan kits. If I do the math right. I could almost fund my kids college with what I could sell these for.  8)

so, absolutely no chance of the company selling to someone in order to continue production? Seems a shame.

I don't get E-bay in general, but when you click on the bids, why is it the same person bidding against themselves from the original price and then putting a new bid in every minute by minute against themselves?

If no one picks up the Jordan Molds, I am going to have to do some 3D printed masters to create molds for resin castings to complete our conversion kits.

Darryl...

I had a conversation with Keith Wiseman in Kentucky some weeks ago; he is Wiseman models and has scooped up most of the cast metal truck dies from around the country.   I think he had a conversation with the widow of the guy that ran the company.  As I recall she doesn't know what she wants to do with it.........  So everything is on hold.  I also sent an email to Dave Rygmyr at Northwest Short line and Tichy that the company might be available.  I never heard back but I have no personal demand to be in the loop.

I do know that Jordan up graded their molds some years ago and really raised the detail.  I don't know what their volume is annually but they never had (that I could find) a direct web site.  If someone did restart it and have an internet access the company would probably do well.

Darryl..

One more thing.

About the sellers bidding...........

In auctions they call that a shill.  That is an auctioneer's co conspirator who lurks in the back and bids from time to time to run up the price.

Ebay claims that they don't allow it but all a seller needs to do is have two accounts and Ebay would never know the difference.  They really don't care........... they get their cut either way.

Sometimes they're using automatic bidding software, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone by accident set up 2 programs to bid against each other.

There is nothing special about the bidding in this case. It is just the way eBay displays the bid history. They don't put it in chronological order but rather in bid amount order. Bidder A bid $17.00 at Aug-15-16 12:58:53 PDT. Bidder B bid $30.00 at Aug-15-16 13:01:23 PDT. Then bidder A started bidding in $1.00 increments at Aug-15-16 13:02:30 PDT until he outbid bidder B by bidding $31.00 at Aug-15-16 13:02:52 PDT.

I assume it depends on the builder.

Got it. I hope I don't have to pay more than $5/each to unload the ones I've built  ;D

Ebay has lost it's usefulness as a market place for modelers. It's just collectors trading inventory. We will all get a chance to buy Jordon's at the NG Convention for a reasonable price.

Gents...

This is turning into an interesting conversation.

John.......... I think you are right about Ebay for modelers.  It is certainly become a place not inhabited by modelers but people who want to bulk up their 401-k.

Jaime.... you pose an interesting conversation that has a wider reach than Jordan cars.  What is something worth after assembled.  Noted above...... depends on who builds it.

In some instances it doesn't matter who so much as the fact that the kit is out of the box.  I've had this conversation with a modeler here in town as he and I have closed up several estate railroads. What is a built freight car worth?  Blue box Athearn is a good example.  NOT MUCH ! !!

Except that it has retro fitted , for example, trucks and couplers.  So not just those parts on the car put it at 8 or 9 bux.... depending on the added parts.

So with other stuff........... Karl might answer this one.......... what is a FSM kit worth once built.

Then add to it........ It was built ten or fifteen years ago....... What are the factors ? ? ? ?

I think at the end it is all about what it is and who is willing to give what for this or that built model.

There is no question that things change once they are out of the box and built; but to what degree.

So waddya you boys think.

I've seen built-up FSM kits go for the same price or less than an unbuilt kit. The only one who I know personally that has gotten more for a built-up FSM kit than an unbuilt one is THE Runner. Dr. Ben has managed it but after a long period of advertising. Jimmy likely has sold built-up FSM kits for more than the new kit price.

I wouldn't buy a built-up FSM kit. I'd  rather built it myself.

Your mileage may vary.

Jaime......

That's exactly why I think built brings less than the unbuilt box.

Thanx

And that is a shame because some builders do great work. I'd say in order to profitably sell a built-up kit one needs a buyer from the onset (commissioned work).

...and another one hits the market in the same range!

I really think it is a scam based on the same bidders... Crazy prices when some of these are still available at a few stores for 8-9 dollars...

I picked up a couple dozen Jordon's at the Houston Narrow Gauge Convention for 3 dollars a piece. They fit real nice in a suit case when your flying.   This is a simple a case of buyer be wear.

The eBay is offering 12mo and 24mo no interest PayPal Credit financing for purchases $300+ and $600+. The offer may be of interest to some people looking for some Jordan vehicles to buy.  8)

This financing should come in handy when bidding on those high $$$ layouts that pop up for sale on the 'Bay.
