Done yet?
Went to work, came back and expected that it would be done , maybe Karl is on a slow day ;) ;) ;)
Karl,
I will be following.
Vilius
The only thing that slows Karl down is waiting for the paint to dry.
Jim
Karl, I am with you on this one
Building it myself & had a little trouble with the laser cut front doors fitting together closed. I had to glue them in with the doors open so that you do not see the gap. I know all of the kit builders are into using their laser for doors & some windows however I am old school (& old age) I still like the way George provides you a casting. I know the Barnstead build is alot different then a Fos scale & I do like Fos alot however I think of FSM kits as still a work of art. Just my thoughts & I look forward to your finish

Hi Guys:
glad everybody is in. I finished the walls and glued them together today.
Here;s a few photos. Hope you like it.
Karl
Okay Karl , which one of these 2 are you married to

Hi Janbouli:
SHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell anybody. Both of em.
Karl
Hmm, but can you wiggle your nose?
Personally, I was always partial to the one on the right. She dressed (undressed) better.
Karl,
The colors by spraying came out very good. I can not help but notice by spraying you are not having to use inside bracing. How did you tone down the stone footings of the building. I use A/I & it still does not look right. Your double doors look like they fit good (no gap). I like the way you applied The Grove Sign. I did mine per the instructions and the framing does not look right. I think I will take the framing off & use some 3m tape and apply it to the structure to give it that painted on look. Keep up the great work. As always I learn alot from you and some of the other members.
Mike Sigmon
Hi Marty:
No I can't wiggle my nose.
Karl
Hi Mike:
Glad you like the colors. The walls are braced inside per the instructions. I just do it after corner trim and freeze boards are applied. I did not do anything to the stone footings. They are paper and I thought they looked fine as they are. I wanted my sign to look painted on. Used 3M tape. The double doors were a little wide so I had to sand them a little for a good fit. Also I did not cut the wood framing in half. I applied it to the doors as one piece. I think I got everything.
Karl
Hi Bnd O Guy:
Me to.
Karl
Looking good Karl! Did you apply a wash to the windows & doors after you spray painted them? They look really great.
Karl
Looking good. Another fine build.
Hi Map:
Yours is the comment I was looking for. Yes windows & doors have an A & I was and I was wondering if they looked ok. I guess they are. Glad you liked them.
Thanks
Karl
Hi John:
Thanks for the compliment. Much apprecaited as always.
Karl
Hi All:
I hope to finsish the main roofs today. There will be a surprise on the peaks. It is something another modeler taught me years ago and will be a suggestion for Doug to use of future kits. I will send him detailed photos.
Karl
I love surprises ;)
Vilius
Hi Vilius:
Then stay tuned.
Karl
Mike - I agree with you about the laser cut windows. I much prefer to use Tichy because they are easier for me(senior citizen with unsteady fingers). I will leave them for the more skilled.
Have a great day everyone. Jim
Hi All:
Here is the roof surprise I promised. Am also sending this to Doug for his perusal.
Steps:
1) Add 1" X 8" boards to peak of roof. Photo 1.
2) Add 1/16th Square to peak of roof. Photo 2
3) Add .45 thousandths green floral wite to top of 1/16th Square. Photo 3.
4) Add .020 X 3/64th Up against 1/16th Square Make sure it is edge glues so you have some space under it.
5) Photo of finished roof. Photo 5
Thoiught you might like this and could use it on some future kits.
Let me know what you think OK.
Karl
Cool Karl. Do you have and end view pic?
Nice bit of roof detail, Karl. Clever.
Jeff
Awwwwwwwww Karl...

Karl
Hi Steve:
Thanks appreciate your compliment.
Karl
What's not to like???!!
Karl, The structure finished very nice. Did you use 1/2" thick foam Gator Board. I have never used this stuff. What do you think about it & where do you get it from
Mike Sigmon
Hi donato:
Thanks buddy.
Karl
Hi Mike:
It's not Gator Board. It's the 1/2" Styrofoam sheet you get in the craft store. I only use it for small models.
Thanks for the compliment.
Karl
Karl,
Well done. The roof cap is very nice touch. What the diorama needs now is Mr.Groovy himself. ;)
Vilius
