The next house for the neighborhood is another Sear's kit house. The "Solace" was offered between 1927 to 1930.

I need to order a few parts and will be starting on this shortly.
Hi Andy:
wow another one. How cool. Love the first one.
Karl
Following along Andy , especially interested in how you will do the roof.
Andy,
Me three. I'll take "solace" in the fact you'll be building this one.
Tom
Andy,
For sure I will be following along on The Solace build. After seeing your prior build & how it came out I will be watching all the way

Thanks Guy's I will try to stick closer to the plan this time.

Got it!!
Main walls cut out using 1/16 thick basswood lap siding. I went with the 6 inch wide siding this time to make it a little different than the last house. They will be right next to each other on the layout. I also added the 6 inch end caps on the larger wall sections.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi51.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff373%2Fsteammodeler%2FAndy%2520folder%2Fmodern%2520home%2520115%2FDSCF1880.jpg&hash=8ca905fdb800cf1f8e9913c80295db0344120363)
next step is add the foundation.
I have the foundation added to the lap siding walls. I used plain 1/16 thick basswood aprox. 3 feet tall. I will be covering this with the Micro-Mark stick on stone wall.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi51.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff373%2Fsteammodeler%2FAndy%2520folder%2Fmodern%2520home%2520115%2FDSCF1881.jpg&hash=6a2cc715a48905e6291c32d1d2eb7ca20169d539)
The windows I ordered have arrived so sorting them out will be next.
I will be using Tichy windows and doors. The windows in the prototype are 0ne over two. I bought two over two and clipped the top divider out to make the match.

Clever trick with the windows.

Looking good Andy.
Tom ;D
Andy, in the picture it looks like there are two versions of the kit, or is it the front and back views?
Looks like you are off to a good start.
Karl
Andy.
Since you put up the plan, you going to put in the interior for it also?

Nice try, but no Bob, the house will sit to the back of the layout so it would never be seen. That's my story and I am sticking to it.
Door and window openings all laid out. Now to get some tape on the back and cut out.

I'm ok with that. Just thought I would ask.

Bob, I never had much luck with interiors, maybe some day I will give one more time.
Window and door openings all cut out. Next up is some bracing.

Karl it is an embossed self stick sheet sold by Micro- Mark. they also have brick and concrete block
Finished the front half of the roof. Next to build the back dormer before doing the rest.

Hi Andy,
Your house is coming along very nicely.
Thanks for stopping by Steve.
Dormer has been painted and the roof shingled. Also have the dormer roof cut. The notch is for the chimney. Now some paint under the eaves then more shingling.

Jeff, I tried the stone sheet a few years ago on a whim, I have been using it ever since. It is a good product for something that doesn't sit right up front, at a distance is where it has the advantage. It is the same way with their brick sheet. and thanks for watching!!
This is for anyone else that is interested in the Micro-mark self stick sheeting. I did a scratch build of the East Side Oil Co. and used the brick sheeting on it, this is how it looks.

If you hold it in your hand you can tell right away it is a photo, but set back a foot and it looks real.
In N-scale ( if they have it ) it would even be better usable , maybe even for front buildings.
