Here are some pics of my progress on my FSM Bartholow Coal kit. A really fun kit to build.
Brad
Great start Brad. I don't have that one but it looks like a really fun one to build. I'll be following along. Thanks for sharing.
Good look'n job so far. I have always admired this building. Thanks for sharing your talent and MODEL ON...............

Excellent job! Raymo
Looking good so far! This is one of George's best kits.
I love this kit and have it in my "to build" stash. Following along...
Thanks guys. I am currently painting a bathroom in our house and my time is limited in the evenings. I am trying to get some progress done on the large structure. Hopefully I can get some photos uploaded this week. It really is a fun kit to work on. Nothing like a classic FSM kit.
Brad
Priorities, man! Bathrooms are overrated...back to Bartholow's!
Today I have some time to be out in the shop. A little work on the base is in order.......
Brad
Some progress has been made. The rust on the trestle bents looks a bit bright because I have a light pointed at them for the photography. With out the light, it is rather subtle. The porch and roof at the rear were scratch built as I am missing a template from the kit......
Brad
What a great job. Can't wait to see the rest of the build !
Very nicely done.. can't wait to see you next update :)

Looking good.....I'll be following along!
Thanks guys. Today I hope to get out to the garage and cut up some plywood for a base for this kit. It will be kewl to place the buildings and really see it come together........
Brad
A quick update on where I am at. The base has been cut. I cut out a hole for the coal dump to be installed. I have started the coal dump today. I have painted it polly scale concrete and will wait 24 hours to start weathering it. that's it for now....
I was able to get at the bench today. I installed the stairs on the coal bunker and dug out some track. Not sure if i will use a piece of flex or hand lay..... What do you guys think? Got the col dump weathered a bit as well.....
I would use the flex, but then I am lazy.

Thanks Andy. For the record, my wife thinks I'm lazy as well..... ;) ;)
The main structure is now sitting on the heavy duty bents. Careful alignment is needed to get the coal chute to line up with the coal pit for the rail cars. Scenery is coming soon....... YIKES! Oh yes and a couple of pics of the track placement....
Brad:
The structure is looking great.
Go for the hand laid, that spike sticking in thingy from Micro Mark makes it a snap and you'll love the results.
Keep the pictures coming.
Greg unfortunately I have a piece of flex glued in and have started ballasting and am figuring out the scenery. I'm thinking I will have to practise some handlaying before committing to a diorama. Stay tuned for more updates this weekend....
