Ok no template sheet in the box, does anyone know if there is supposed to be a template sheet with the kit?

That's the first craftsman kit I built, and I still have it (packed up in boxes, like all the rest of my train stuff right now.)  Have fun!!

According to their website there should be templates , they have a form to fill in for missing parts and docs, I believe you have to pay for them.

Hi Twopoint2:

I checked 2 of my Campbell and both have Template sheets included. I don't have that kit so I'm not sure but they are probably missing.

Campbell kits are nice. If this one is anything like the one Campbell kit I've built all the wood should already be cut to size.

Have fun and hopefully you'll procure the template sheet.

Dave, Jan, Karl, Jamie thanks for stopping by. This will be the 2nd Campbell kit I have worked on (the first one is still unfinished) hopefully I will get this one finished.

Checked over the parts and layed them to see if the kit from Ebay purchace had everything. Looks to be all there except for the template drawing if this kit even comes with one. Will check with Campbell Scale Models to find out about the drawing.

Talked to Tom at Campbells and he said there is no template drawing for this kit. No problem at least I have the assembly instructions. Removed flash from the door and windows also the wood fuzz from some of the wood pieces. Started to prime and stain.

Jim,

This was one of my favorite Cambell kits. I've built two over the past 40+ years. Your platform looks great.

I have one of these Campbell stations on my layout.  It was built some years ago by The Judge (Bill) and it is lighted.  I will get a picture of it and post it

I am currently building Campbell's Sherry's Scarlet Slipper SaloonThe kit comes with die-cut windows and the dies must have been dull; even tapping up the backside is having little effect on cutting out the windows and doors.  I have yet to buy any Campbell kit from eBay that wasn't missing either the shingles or wood pieces.

Here is a picture of the Station that The Judge Built.

The post on the end are not crooked, that is from the camera angle

Glued more of the wall pieces together and fit the door and windows. Two board and bat panels split while working with them, so I had to glue them back together.
The instructions recommend gluing the wall panels to "onionskin" paper to reinforce the walls, so I'm giving tracing paper a try seems to work well.

I just stopped in to see what you where up to - it looks like you are off to a good start. I will be following along. I have build a few campbell kits over the years. I have plans for a few more on my layout.

Nice work Jim.  It's looking great so far.  I cut my teeth on Campbell kits.  If I remember correctly the first one I built was "The Sheriff's Office".   :D  A long, long, long, time ago.   :o  ::)  I didn't do a very good job on it but I had fun building it.

Before I start on the roof I'm undecided what type of material to use, the kit comes with rolled roofing. So I have some other samples to look at, tar paper roofing, Bar Mills shingles or corrugated aluminum.

If you want to give the build a real weathered look try more than one - structure started with one type of roofing and was repaired with another.  It works real cool if it fits your time frame and desired look.

I really like that deck Jim. :)  BTW, I always liked rusted corrugated aluminum roofs on many of my buildings on my  N scale layout.

I like John's idea but for one type roofing I would go with Bar Mills shingles.

Thank you for all the comments. For the door and windows I tried Aleene's clear gel tacky glue, a few air bubbles but I'm happy with it. Glued them into the walls and added some much need bracing, the walls warped some. Started gluing the wall together.

Glued the Bar Mills shingles to the ruled roof cards and glued to the station. Next I will glue on fascia boards and trim the shingles flush with the ends.
