Why not....?
This is my new entry for the Challenge Build 2016. I know I have a current project on my workbench, but this project is really attractive for me and it will be my personal challenge as well. Build my first wooden scratch build.
As you can see on the title, I will take as a reference a European freight house.
I have some different photos of this item made by the brand Faller.
Faller (#222117) N Scale.

Faller is a habitual manufacturer if we are talking about European railway modelling. They principally work with HO and N scale. His quality is great, but all their buildings are made of plastic. So I will build my own one using only wooden pieces. ;)
The building is catalogued as a Period I item. This period comprises the time from about 1880 until after World War I.
The building mixed wooden and brick walls, anyway my intention or version is building all the set using wooden walls only.
Ok. Here we go!!
My new project will be scratch build this one at N scale.
Regards
This is my first step, drawing all the surface of the building over a balsa wood piece.

Now is time to start to construct the structure ;)
Thanks for looking.
Polux
Polux,
I'll follow along on the build.
Tom ;D
Thanks Tom, you are more than welcome :)
I'll be following along too.
Rodney
Thanks Rodney ;)
I started the structure this night, just the interior soil that will help me to glue the walls correctly (90*).
I numbered the different parts and started to cut the windows on them, as well....Oh my God!! They are so small!! :) :) :)
I don't cut at precision like a laser, but I'm really glad with the result ;)
This evening I will post the pictures, I'm at work now. (remember here are six hours more....) :) :)
Thanks.
Ok. Here are the promised photos.

Well, the doors and the windows are cut, so all the walls are ready to be assembled now. Anyway I will weathered them before, and maybe painted as well, but I don't know it exactly, yet.....

Looks like an interesting project, can't wait to see what you do with it.
Jef
It's starting to take some shape.
Rodney
Looks like you are off to a good start. I will be following along.
Jef. Rodney. John.
Thank you very much for your comments.
Polux,
I'm watching as well.
Question - I notice you are using Balsa wood in place of strip wood. Do you plan on some heavy interior wall bracing and if you use any type of water base paint, how do you think it will affect the warping of the walls?
Looks good at this point.
Tom ;D
Looking good.
I always wonder why there are not more European kit makers of wood kits.

I think it has to do with availability of almost any building in Germany from one of the plastic manufacturers and that most buildings in Germany and the rest of Europe are stone or brick buildings. So there has never been much demand for it . This is changing though because the large companies like Faller , Vollmer and Kibri are having a hard time keeping their heads above water and therefore not coming with many new kits . The small lasercut businesses are now , just like in the US winning terrain.

I know isn't a good material....but is all I have!! lol
Anyway I always like to improve new techniques, so I will try a different way to paint it. H
Just hope it works......:)

Certainly there aren't many wood kits in Europe and, the few that you can find, are really expensive.
That's a pity....:(
Hi Polux:
Great progress so far. Can't wait to see more.
Karl
Thanks for looking Karl ;)
Yep!!
I don't know exactly, if to call this an update..... :) :) :)
Just some work on the walls and I've been starting to paint the entire set.

Polux,
The loading dock looks good. The walls are turning out nicely also.
