After some stagnation I decided to pick up a kit and build one in stead of just buying kits ;)
The box.

The contents, lots and lots of windows.

Lasercut brick walls look really good .
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt3.jpg&hash=804eae8a3c2ab640a033e7ad998a1ede184731d8)
Lots of bracing , wood for this is included in the kit.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt4.jpg&hash=357c9d45b31fdb6fb22e0cf46fa1ae2c58be63fa)
I believe there are more then 80 windows in this kit , each window consists of 4 pieces, I'm doing them 8-12 per evening.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt5.jpg&hash=2270416b85d92e994e4045fc0c2a70e23123349f)
Brick wall primed and spray painted brick red. Sprayed a bit from the side and it worked , the gray of the primer shows as mortar.

Jan,
Great start! I really like the look of this structure. Glad you are back at it.
Tom ;D
Great start Jan, I have built a few of Rich's HO scale kits and they were all great.
Jan, that is a great idea. I haven't seen that brick spraying technique with grey primer then red over it. It looks really good.
Off to a great start, Will have to try that on the next Brick building I do thanks for the tip.
rich
Looks good Jan. That brick technique is efficient and effective for N scale microscopic grout lines. Nice job on a good looking structure.
John
Thanks Tom, John , Andy, Rich and Bob appreciate it.
I have to add that I sprayed with enough pressure so that it kind of swept over the wall, a bit like dry-brushing with a spray can ( I hope you understand what I'm saying).
Hi Jan:
Looks like you're are off to a good start. Looks good so far. Will be following along.
Karl
Impressive "brick" structure Jan.....I'll be looking in. 8)
Glad to have you along Karl and Greg, thanks.
Very nice Jan, great tip about the brickwork! I will have to try that on some HO structures.
Mike 8)
Here are the photos I worked from. One from 1898 and the other in the late 30's.
I also have it in HO on special order.
rich
Great photos Rich, BTW I love your shingles, Jeff I think was very generous in one of his kits.
Mike ;D
Thanks Mike and yes Jeff does get that way at times. Forgets how to count I think :)
rich
Looking good Jan. Have fun with it.... :) 8)
Stay cool and run steam....... 8) 8)
Thanks Bob.
Today I did more windows , just to show I am making progress.

You're off to a great start Jan! I really like the way your technique of grouting came out. I'll be following as well since I have this kit in HO and am looking forward to building it...next year.

Thanks Mark, and next years very soon , why not start now and build it together with me.
All the walls have windows and doors now.

Putting on the decals provided in the kit.

They didn't adhere too well on the brick walls , I decided to experiment , let them dry then applied a spray of matt varnish on them , that wrinkled them all up , so I thought I had wasted them, but after they dried up a bit I was able to rub them down with my fingers. On the photo I still have to rub the bottom left decals the others I have done , they look even better in real life then on this very much enlarged photo.

I assembled the loading dock roof before assembling the walls , used some transfer tape to glue down the roofing.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt11.jpg&hash=3987927a6e06c6c4b31c597f5bc2e2656de86cb3) (http://www.janbouli.com/images/gebouwen/courter/court11.jpg)
Note that a lot of the parts in the kit are very delicate , windows, rafters etc. I really like that Rich has spare parts for some of these delicate parts, OR I made some mistakes ;-)
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt12.jpg&hash=8c5b9311110ed91eafb83e47b49a7b6d14855a32) (http://www.janbouli.com/images/gebouwen/courter/court12.jpg)
Parts for the loading dock , yes the grid on that cutting mat is 1x1 cm.

Great colors Jan! I also like the way you boarded up a couple of the windows on the front brick space. Nice touch for Normal Scale!
Rich puts out some great kits!

Thanks Darryl , I actually had to board those up because I was out of spare windows for those walls , but I like how it turned out, I believe a small fire has temporarily closed that office space.
Looking Great Jan. Strange on the windows there are 23 on the building and should be 24 on the card.
can send more if you want Same on the decal as it is a pain doing it on the brick but you did a great job
and think I did it the same way if I remember right.
rich.
Nice work Jan. :) 8)
Stay cool and run steam........ 8) 8)
Thanks Rich and Bob, I'm good Rich , the boarded up windows look good , add a bit of character.
Walls of the side building assembled.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt18.jpg&hash=b2cd50f503d52f8c5ca49be8b63e8429cb4e7212)
Brick foundation assembled , fits perfect.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt19.jpg&hash=289956ea5042623e3587a76217d3227d81ad9684)
A small piece of bracing to keep the walls square and to make assembling to the main building easier.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt20.jpg&hash=92d73fa353ac29caec18d52749d3f1438455fa9f)
Start of assembling the walls of main building.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt21.jpg&hash=d1324d810a2fe8c252acca5cc919a7754ecd2b64)
Will have to touch up the corners with brick red.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt22.jpg&hash=648755e996ab667961f08863903ea34878b81a01)
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt23.jpg&hash=4a3a901ac4bb21018dfe8243904e4bd67f18e3c6)
Next up is the wooden part of the main building.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt24.jpg&hash=1fc0eb72bee8df7af0575a05b87c8e4bcf945d3a)
It all fits very well and just needs some glue to easy assemble.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt25.jpg&hash=b3b2ee6d075fdf3c6f6e1a659716185335e3eac0)
When all the glue is dried and the main building is ready I put in some light blockers , just strips of black paper that I put in crosswise.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt26.jpg&hash=080fb6c6cd16b3b72d2508fc5eff5dfe03c52216)
Side building , also with light blocker, assembled to the main building.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt27.jpg&hash=9571cd208d5994d76966cb75e3e406dc616e61ed)

Roof bases assembled, I use a black marker to color the edges of these.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt29.jpg&hash=1b3cc2cf106d3587087abd9529ebc5e229d4faa9)
In between waiting for things to dry I built the large chimney.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt30.jpg&hash=942d13373b90e3674b24f877fcc6503f13d9222a)
The chimney consists of several parts and isn't the easiest part of this kit.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt31.jpg&hash=94b2bd37172f539ed8c2bd0be9dca7b05e91137a)
Slate roofing , lots of slate roofing , maybe even more tedious then the windows , but well worth the chore.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt32.jpg&hash=60f6a94ace7dcaf3b651d5623b38640be9c7fc68)
I use transfer tape to assemble the roofing, start at the bottom and work yourself up.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt33.jpg&hash=d640b422bdd975c7b3a5445edb6aa042b40c4670)
After about a half hour , it's time to do something else, roofing again tomorrow.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt34.jpg&hash=401a8ba4d070a260d6944062ccf98ad9d34a2df2)
Glued together the brick and concrete stairs. Masked the parts of the stairs that will be concrete and then spray painted the brick parts.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.janbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Fcourter%2Fcourt35.jpg&hash=a2bf0d8a9a29aed2497368c161b8d76c59b5c5f4)
Jan,
Great build. The shingles really look good. It's hard to make blue look good but you've pulled it off.
Tom ;D
Thank you Tom , appreciate it.
Looking Great Jan and yes, the chimney is not the easiest part of the kit.
Your doing a great job as you always do.
rich
Thank you Rich , it's a great kit , albeit that a novice could probably use a bit more instructions, a few more photo's would be good too.
