Well, we have a topic for almost everything so I figured it was time for a passenger car showing.
Here are two from Jacksonville Union Station. Not really passenger cars but I'm getting close.

Tom,
Nice photos! Yes you are right, these are not passenger cars, however they are mail cars and some became baggage cars as time progressed. These are cool cars and an integral part of passenger train consists. Early on in the postal car history, mail cars had workers inside working sorting mail as the train headed to it's next destination. Hinse all the air vents and windows.
Can't wait to see all the cool upcoming photos you must have. Thanx Thom...
And for those of you who haven't studied this, the demise/loss of postal contracts by rail was the death knell for most inter-city passenger travel. I'd be interested in comments on the Railway Express business have on the passenger trains march into history.

Yes,
The baggage car postal workers were also Signal 0, meaning they all carried side arms.

Chip,
I remember in the 50's a passenger train passing through Orlando could easily have 5-6 United States Postal cars at the head end. Some times at the station, they would throw out 50-75 bags of mail.

Tom,
Question: You were telling me about (if memory serves) how the purple ACL paint (royal purple) use to fade to white right? So this passenger probably faded as well huh? Thanx Thom...
I built this HO coach from a Bethlehem Car Works kit. Osgood Bradley built this and similar cars for the New Haven and NYO&W in the 1920s. This one got ice-activated A/C in the late 1930s.
I had fun building, detailing, painting & weathering These two brass passenger cars many years ago. The cars started out as two single unpainted no truck cars. After adding/modifying Central Valley Trucks, Kadee couplers & boxes I also added Preiser seats and figures w/widow glazing along with painted shades. Never had an operating issue with these cars ever since. Thanx Thom...
Here's a photo of a unique business car from the collection of Marty Bernard taken in Rochelle Illinois...that was turned into a detector car !
Ex CB&Q Business Car # 93 that was originally acquired from the St. Louis, Keobuck & Northwestern RR car # 77 ...
So here is it, a prototype passenger car turned into a one of a kind model. Glad Marty was from my hometown of Chicago and worked on that RR... 8)

Thom,
The Seaboard E Units were painted in a very light Mint Green color. After several months in the Southern sun, the Ming Green looked more white.
The purple diesel did fade but never to the extent they looked white.

James,
Beautiful job on the coach.

Nice looking passenger cars - James & Thom..... 8)
Hey Guys:
Lots of great photos here. I very much enjoyed them.
Karl
The date is 9/13/65 and the location is Eaola Yard in Illinois from the collection of Marty Bernard.
This string of passenger equipment has just been pulled out of revenue service from the daily passenger runs to Chicago on the CB&Q.
Tommy
Interesting; I don't recall seeing any CB&Q heavyweights in that scheme before. But maybe that's because photos of CB&Q heavyweights weren't a priority once the Zephyrs were on the property.
Work-in-progress. Silver Crash Colorado Midland coach (HO resin kit). Assembly is easy, it's the resin clean-up (particularly between the windows) and then the period paint job that takes all the time...

The New Haven RR Historical/Technical society worked with Rapido to make high-quality models of the Pullman-built 1948 parlor cars. Mine arrived last week. As with the previous run of coaches, the interior lighting is very bright. So I'm eventually going to take them apart and add window shades, at least.
Tom b. 125,
That's a really cool yard shot. I cropped it. Thanks for sharing Bossman!
Dave,
I like this resin passenger car, Looking good sir!
James,
That's a ridiculously awesome car. Wholy cow it's nice. I love the interior and Lights. (even on the end). Thanx Thom...
