Needed a little build for myself...sort of a palate cleanser. First, Doug's proto...
Goodies...
First up...bathe the strip wood.
Just a few windows to assemble.
Added some more detail parts, trimmed/cleaned, ready for painting.
Yep...I'm one of those nail hole people.
Lift a few clapboards, brace the walls, and then break out the inkahol.
Dry-dab some Polly Scale Earth, followed by the main structure color.
Window glazing...
...and installation of doors, windows, corner trim.
Preparing roofage, installing window shades...
...and then up with the walls.
Slightly blurry smokejack.
Fantastic stuff Dave! The windows (Im assuming were glazed with canopy glue) turned out sweeeet!. The look of the blue/grey color scheme with the white really brings out a striking contrast that demands attention on a layout, diorama or module.
Hi Dave:
Looks Like your are off to a great start.
I built that one. It's one of my favorite little kits. I can post A pic if you'd like. Let me know OK.
Thanks Karl
Thanks for looking in, Karl. I always check to see if you've done a kit and then use your photos for reference, as I did for this one! :-)
Time for roofage.
One thing I appreciate about Doug's kits...nice templates. This tagboard one for the below deck supports is nice.
And now to plank the dock.
He always provides plenty of signs, as well.
Finish the decking and supports...
...and add the smoke jack.
Okay, this is where I get tense. I'm not too good at roofs (unless nice and flat, of course!). Dormers, mansards...I just don't seem to have the touch. It took me two tries to get this one. When dissatisfied with the first attempt I cut a new one and started over. The pitch is Gallery Glass Liquid Leading.
Dave,
Looks great! I like the way that everything blends together, the structure just looks "right" to me. I especially like the roll roofing on the "flat" roof. IMO, you really nailed the wear along the nailed edge.
Thanks, Jerry. Can't go wrong with Doug's kits. They come together without a hitch.
Off to its new home...a layout in a neighboring county.
Hi Dave:
OK sounds cool. Glad you check mine out.
Karl
Wow, that went together quickly. Looks great.
Jeff
Cheated, Jeff. Build was done...just hadn't started thread. It is a quick little build, though.
Dave,
Great job, lots of character in a small structure.
Thanks, Jerry. Figures, additional details are left up to the recipient. Thanks for checking in!
Good work Dave.....it will be a good base for an interesting infill scene. 8)
Thanks, Greg. Headed to its new layout home this weekend.
