If I remember correctly the original red hook at a brick building on the corner so I see no reason why you couldn't or shouldn't use brick.

thanks for your answer, yes the small building on the corner is the one i have still to make.
i think it over and make a decision when i get home.
for that i am going to use the same plaster wall's as from my other scratch build.
now i have to consider and find some pictures for an interiueur on fish oil
any sugestions are whelcome.

Hi Moonlicht:
I believe you are the second person to build this in O-Scale. I believe Eric Form Quebec also did it in O-Scale. Anyway you are doing a fine job so far. Have fun.

You right, I did it in HO scale...
Hi Eric:
Sorry bout that. Thought you did it in O-scale. As I rmemeber your build was fantastic.
Karl
its bin a while sins my last posting, to much to do outside
all the lighting is now in place, started with the roof
Cor
and some rust
Very nice.
If you are building Red Hook 2 as well later, you'll need a gymnasium to fit it all in. You must have a large layout room.
Jaime
only 12x6 meter 8)
more progres
doors, doors and doors
i think this one is finished (for now)
Cor...
Great building.
I particularly like the running rust from the window shutter hinges.
thanx
Bob
This is absolutely a beautiful rendition. From what I see, this would stand against the best out there. From the pics, the coloring and balance are right on!
Great work!

Hi Moonlicht:
Looks good sofar.
Karl
thanks Karl
time to paint some small stuff, will be ad on the total layout later
Cor
I just joined this forum. I am also in O Scale and modeling a bit of water front. I had also considered modeling Red Hook in O but was concerned about possible copyright problems but I guess if i don't sell kits I should be OK?
Also did you develop drawings or just guess based on the HO dimensions given in the ads?
I don't see any current posts?
Thanks

Welcome aboard, Jay.
Jaime
Thanks so much. There seems to be a lot here of interest.
Jay, I welcome you, too!
In my opinion, if you build it yourself for your own personal layout, I don't see where there could be
any problems!
Jay
all the sizes and mesurements to build it in O are ghathered from other builds in H0
i found some build on other forum's, thats a big tresure for information
wat is also a big help, on the website from FOS you can find the size of the footprint from the buildings
copy right, i think as long it is not comercial , i am building it for my self not for selling it.
and i am not looking for a 100% copy , a good lookalyke is ok for me
and the freedom to change and ad whatever i like makes it fun.
good luck with your build looking forward for it, if you want more information you can mail me
Cor
well, did i do much, no
i have started with a steamer that i want to run on this layout
an old one
here are some pictures
i have repowered it
Cor
made some progres . ::)
Cor
Looks good!!!
a bit playing with A&I ,and a try for some roof plating
Cor
A huge undertaking, Cor!
Coming on in leaps and bounds!
Cheers, Mark.
yes sometimes you have a good mood , like now 8)
done the roof from the ice building
maybe i wil paint it tomorow, its a bit bling bling now
found 2 boats, they have arived, i want to have something in the water.
Cor
bling bling is now gone
made a roof for another house
Cor
today an easy day
made a roof chappel
Cor
yesterday i received my new toy, it was on my wish list
today play time 8)
Cor
Is that a Cricut?
Jaime
Nope, this is a Silhouette Cameo.
as far as i know now the cricut works with cartidge's
i was not happy with the shingles looks a good challenge for my new toy
first a try on white paper, looking ok for me
painted a paper and started up, the result is ok
the only thing to improve is using collored paper
Cor

ok next
some roof done and made a frame for the bilboard
Cor
I suspect you will be running out of room shortly. That is very impressive in O scale.
Jaime
hi Jaime
yes and no
red hook will be build as a module, it will be connected to my other modules
the plan is that i can go to a trainfest or whatever
modules can be stored , and my room is 12x6 (and these are metric meters 8))
so for now i have room to build a few more modules, and i can store them under my train table.
Cor
Great building.
Thanx
Bob
today done a bit off fidling with the letters
Very clever rusting the letters like that.
Jaime
The sign detail is impressive. Jim

hm no coments on the Grove sign 8)
it's where i live ::)
and now a roof for Knaps (and windows etc)
Cor
Hi Cor.....Langford is bad enough in HO scale.....now that you've blown him up to O scale, there'll be no living with him..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
ok, time to continu ,.............almost
a small experiment, like to ad a lichthouse 8) .
Cor
and a bit of paint
Cor
i had a small project to finish for a friend.
and now time to continu with the next building
i have given Kitwell a slightly diferent colour, i hope you like it
the 3e picture is before painting, i found it to dark
also did some work for the roof
for the roof was i thinking to put shingles on is
Cor
made the foundation
Cor

Cor

Cor
sneak preview
Cor
The Burlington Route's initial F units were called greybacks, due to the color scheme. The inital switchers were painted black and grey and were known as blackbirds. In the late 1950s they were painted in a red and greyscheme. No nickname was given to the Chinese red units.
any nickname on these?
Cor
That's the classic Burlington Northern paint scheme, no nickname. Though some units had orange stripes on the front called the tiger stripe scheme and some had white fronts for better visibility called the white face sheme. Early passenger cars and locos had a scheme called the "hockey stick". It's hard to believe the BN and SF merger was nearly 20 years ago. The CB&Q (Burlington Route) merged into the BN in 1970.
Jeff
thanks, for the learning point
i have not that much green stuf but there will be coming more 8)

What? Now what is Greg complaining about. Maybe some manufacturer will do a DeMayo Mayonaise sign.
Tom ;D
Cor,
By the way, your "O" scale version of Red Hook looks fantastic and you did a superior job on the build. I especially like the "Langford Ice". So, I guess Greg was correct in his comment.

This is just some outstanding modeling. Great coloring all the way around.
Just how much space is this taking up?

Hold your breath , i will continue in 2weeks
Cor
ok, 2 weeks are past
did some detailing on the chimney
and some work on towing stuf (dont know the name 8)
Just saw this series. I am also in O Scale and have considered doing the same thing with Red Hook. Also some of the other buildings that are HO only. I am assuming there are no copyright issues as long as one doesn't sell or manufacturer copies of the HO buildings. There are lots of great buildings by FOS and others only available in HO. Anyway now I will have to go back and read the complete series.
Really nice work on the tug.
Wowza!!
