This is dedicated to my friend Marty Jones who has helped me over the last 10 years.
I have the plans for the Eureka Springs Enginehouse. Using them and doing some modifications along the way.
This is being done in O-Scale.
I hope you follow along and comments are always welcome.
I don't think I posted the pictures of machines I'm using but will as progress goes on. There the ones that Sierra West Scale Models sells.
So here is the first wall I did and I'm working on the 2nd one now.
Jerry,
Count me in on the build. It looks like a great project.
Tom ;D
Thanks Tom glad your going to watch.
Jerry
I will follow along as best I can.
Jim
I'll be watching Jerry..... :)
Thanks Jim & Gregory glad to have you on board.
Jerry
Jerry
This looks like a great project - I will be following along.
Thanks John.
Jerry
Count me in...especially since its O scale....
Glad to have you on board Donato.
Right now I'm trying to decide whether I want to do the tracks in ON30 or ON3. Either way it makes no difference in the build.
Jerry
Well I finished the second wall. But I need better lighting will have to work on that.
Jerry
This is really cool...
thanx
Bob
Jerry,
Did I see the toenail technique to assemble this wall???? Just sayin'. Thanx Thom...
Thanks Bob & Tom for looking in its appreciated.
Jerry
The four (4) walls framed for the Engine House. Next will be the addition the Machine Shop.
Comments always welcome. Thanks for looking.
Jerry
Such nice work Jerry! beautiful framework - everything looks so nice with tight joints. I usually run out of room on my workbench doing a project in HO scale- I would have to have a bigger work area if I worked in O scale!
Thanks for posting, I look forward to watching your progress
Bob C.
Looks great Jerry, I love this style of building.
Bob thanks for stopping by and the nice compliment.
Janbouli thanks glad you like the building so far.

Janbouli thanks glad you like the building so far.
Jerry
I meant the way you are building it Jerry , with the scratchbuilt frame first, but the structure will end up looking great also ;)

Hi Jerry:
Engine house is looking great so far.
Karl
Hi Karl thanks for taking the time to look in on me.
I heard you guys had some snow over there sorry I missed it! Not!! :)
Jerry
Not much to show after a cold all week. But the MS annex is now framed.
So next will be a base an the floor and windows have to be made.
Jerry
Jerry,
Looks great. There's a whole lot of precise cutting and gluing in those stud walls.
Jerry thanks for looking in and the positive comment its appreciated.
Jerry
Looking good, love the stud work. Tell the truth this is the first time I've seen a build go from the inside outward.
Thanks for looking in Lynn.
Jerry
Very nice work!
Thanks John its appreciated.
Jerry
Here are the machines going in the Machine Shop.
There the kits from Sierawestscale models.
I can only post these one at a time. I thought I had posted them before.
So I had to get them off of my Fotki thread.
Hope you enjoy them!!
Jerry
BOLT CUTTER
CRANK SHAPER
UNVIRESAL MILLER
DRILL PRESS
ENGINE LATHE
These are really neat looking pieces of equipment, I need to read back but are you leaving the structure just a studded framework or boarding it up? Be a shame to not be able to see the machinery.
Thanks Lynn.
Yes it will have siding but the roof will be able to be removed.
Working on windows and doors later today.
Jerry
Looking forward to your updates.
The machine shop back wall. The brown is not showing as well as I would like due to my lighting.
Working on the side walls next.
Comments always welcome.
How are you planning to do the roof so it's removable?

dave
Not sure yet Dave but they both roofs will be removable.
Jerry
This is really coming along nicely, great modeling.
I have scratchbuilt many "O" scale structures. Building in "HO", I have not done for years. So small! Smaller than I remember. You are doing a marvelous job on this. The machinery is amazing. Do they make tools this small to build these? Or, do you cross your arms and nod, or do you wiggle your nose and "POOF?"
Dave
Seattle
John thanks for looking in always great to have you along.
Thanks Dave yes the machinery is a fun project. but thanks to Sierra West Scale Models and brett they come out perfect every time.

So small, what do you mean small ????????????????????????????????? ??? ??? ??? ;)
Jan I think because the pictures are small it gives the impression its HO instead of O scale maybe that's what he meant.
Jerry
I model in N-scale mostly Jerry , so to me both H0 and O are gigantic ;)
Looking great, studded walls really make it, well along with all the great looking machinery.
Thanks Lynn glad your liking the walls.
Hopefully an update early next week.
Jerry
Wall done over with door. Battens on. Knots showed up pretty good.
If my dam arthritis wasn't bother me so much I'd much farther along.
Maybe I need a bigger scale to work in!!
Jerry
A little progress. Its not glued together.
Still needs the windows and the top gable needs the battens.
Jerry
Looking good.
Thanks Curt its appreciated.
Jerry
Coming along great Jerry
Thanks Jan its appreciated. Hopefully another post next week.
Jerry
Just a quick update. The windows are done for the Machine Shop.
Progress is slow but moving along at a snails pace anyway!!
Jerry
Jerry,
Just getting caught up on the thread. You've done a masterful job on the build. Great job on all of it.
Tom ;D
Thanks Tom its appreciated.
Jerry
Another update on the EH/MS.
Doors are done for the Machine Shop.
Progress is slow but I'm getting there.
Good looking framing job Jerry..... 8)
Jerry
This is looking fantastic. I love the weathering of the wood.
Thanks Greg its appreciated.
Hi John glad you like it. Hopefully after I get my wood order I'll be able to finish the last wall and move on to put it together.
Jerry
Very nice work Jerry. Thank you for sharing.
ed
Sorry I missed your post Ed. Thanks for the nice words always appreciated from a guy like you.
Jerry
I guess summer is really over. Even though we were on the beach today for a walk.
Just seems right to sit down an continue with Martin's.
This is were I left off. Working on making the doors for the Enginehouse.
Jerry
Jerry,
Glad to see you returning to this build. I love to see board by board construction, and will be following once again.
Thanks Jerry. An glad your going to follow along its appreciated.
Jerry
Jerry,
Just getting caught up on the build. Wonderful job and the wood is very realistic. The overall appearance looks like the prototype in miniature.
Well done.
Tom ;D
Very nice modeling.
Thanks Tom always nice to have you follow along. Hopefully we will see this one completed.
Curt thanks for the nice compliment always appreciated.
Jerry
Not much to report but the doors are done for the front of the EH.
And I finally after many attempts got my hinged window to work and fit!! I did not make the mullions yet.
Now to make the rest of them.
Jerry
So I have finally finished the doors and windows!
Next I need to get some decent lightning to take pictures!!
Jerry
Those doors are great Jerry.
Excellent job Jerry.
Thanks Jan & Curt its really appreciated.
Jerry
Jerry,
That is wonderful modeling. I especially like the scratch built hinged windows.
Hey Jerry:
Very nicely done.
Karl
Thanks Jerry its appreciated. And those windows were a real pain but hey I kept trying and now they look fine!
Karl always good to hear from you thanks.
Jerry
Finished the floor for the machine shop.
Placement for the machines is next...
When I was working on a machine shop model, I started with photocopies of the floor and then drew on that the ceiling framing. Then I positioned the machines so I could understand where/how to run the belts from the machines up to the belt pulleys suspended from the ceiling framing. That seemed to work well.
One of these days I'll dig that project out and finish it... It got put away when we moved a couple years ago, and I haven't decided where that particular structure will go.
dave
Jerry really nice modeling.
Thanks Curt its appreciated.
Dave not sure were the machines will go. Plus not sure which ones I'll use I know they won't all fit. Thanks for looking and giving me an idea.
Jerry
The placement of the machines. I think I have them were I want them.
I know the belt for the DP has to have a turn in it.
Next will be to put in the missing piece of wood that holds the rafters and the Main Line for the pulleys.
Jerry,
I love to see belt driven machinery modeled. I'm looking forward to your installation of all the necessary pulleys and belts.
Thanks Jerry.
Seeing I've never done the belts and pulleys either it should be a lot of fun...
Jerry
Jerry...
Consider brown grocery bag cut into narrow strips.
see ya
Bob
Chuck Doan suggested Mylar (drawing plastic). I got some from my brother the architect.
dave
Thanks Bob & Dave I also have the material Western Scale Models used in his kits.
Jerry
Another machine built. Western Scale Models McCabe Double Spindle Lathe.
Not sure if I'm going to use it here or in another shop I'm building.
Just thought you might like to see it.
Jerry
Very nice work! I love old machine shops. As for belt material - I have used paper, magnetic tape out of old cassette tapes, drawing plastic (Dave's post above), for me paper seems to work the best long term. The glue stays stuck where you want it to and you can paint it to look very realistic.
Hey Jerry:
WOW!!! re3ally love the machine shop.
Karl
Jerry,
Looks great! All you need is a drive belt and some metal chips.
Thanks John appreciate you looking in.
Karl thanks for the great compliment.
Jerry the belts will be coming along with the metal chips. Thanks its really appreciated.
Jerry
Jerry, simply beautiful work. I'm late getting to this show but very glad I found it.
George
George thanks a lot for the compliment glad you found me.
Jerry
