Has any one gotten one of these yet? Mine came today but no one was home and the mail person wouldn't leave it. I'm going to pick it up at post office tomorrow. I'd love to see a build on this

oh yeah, this is one of the new Bar Mill's kits-- can't go wrong with one of those! the kit looks really nice, I was thinking of getting one.

Good looking kit...I almost bought and still might but I just can't possibly find a spot for it...this weekend, I'll try harder to rationalize it. Very nice looking and Bar Mills is great!

Well I opened the box and read the directions I still have to Finnish my Hollis exterminating before I start another one probably wont start for another week or two

As another new member I can tell you these guys are really good and as you can see, relentless in getting you to jump in the water and start a building tread. Moreover, I would love to see a tread on this kit as it is one I would like to build for my layout. So glad you jumped in the water and I will be watching and learning.

Not much to show yet, lots of wood to stain. First up will be the lumber shed.

I finally got some time off. Menard's is stupid busy this time of year. The instructions start with the lumber shed. the lumber racks were not so bad 1/16 and 2x6 strip wood. the framing is another story It uses 1/8 sticks and my 40 year old chopper can not cut straight. Cut sand, sand, sand. Does any one use the true sander?

I had a day off yesterday and this is what I did. not quite finished, and the picture shows what needs to be fixed. the only thing I didnt like was the rafter tails stick out past the roof. I was going to cut a roof card a little bigger but decided to nip off the tails.
I'm still debating whether I should add a back. I think looking through it will detract from the details. I could also add some shelves for supplies.
I need a chop saw and some rolls of tar paper, but today I have to work at the 1:1 lumber yard

Looks awesome. I guess the answer I'd ask is did/do the real ones have backs? I prefer it without, but it's your railroad.
I tend to agree although a real lumber shed will have a back wall to protect the lumber from weather. I'm going to mock up a background with some trees and Ill probably like it

Not a lot of modeling time today. It was take care of the grand baby day :) I did put the small shed and yard office together. Nothing is glued in place yet needs a little tweaking. Tomorrow I will do the roofs. The kit pictures show black tar paper. I think with all the weathered wood and the yellow office I need some color to balance it out. Red or Green? Either way it will be well weathered and toned down.

Thanks John. The shed is basically done. I'leaning towards a red roof what do you guys think? This was pretty difficult for me as my skills are pretty rusty and there are a lot of little parts. I still need to fill the board racks and other details, but for now I'm moving on to the office/store.

I started the office today. I'm taking a chance here as the instructions say 1/16 corners. The video on Bar Mills website says no corners but the plans show them and pictures all appear to have them I hope this doesn't change the size too much. I emailed Art but he didn't get back to me yet
