Gotta few things to do, yet, but they'll have to wait 'til I return from NC. Great kit, Kenny!
Good looking build Dave....I like it.
Jim
Thanks, Jim. Has a rooftop sign to mount, still, and the finish-up weathering/details. Nice kit by Kenny.
I love it , cement block building, something else .
Dave,
Looking good sir !
Tommy
Thanks Jan, Tom. 👍🏻
Back from travels and eager to finish this up. Think I'll add a "free air" detail and the usual barrels, tires. Gotta put some tires on the roof as my salute to the F&SM 🤣. Any other ideas?
Done.
I need Sylvans!
Great scene, Dave.
Looks like there's a little arc in the diorama base. How do you tame that when placing it onto the layout?
Good eye, Vince. As the Gatorboard narrows to fit the unusual space it warps upward.
On my own large dio here at home I've placed a sheet of 2" pink foam down on the plywood benchwork. I build/scenic on a similar piece of foam and, when ready for planting, just cut an appropriate-sized hole in the layout and plunk the new dio in place, camouflaging the gaps with scenery.
As you can see in the first pic, my friend's layout (he's old-school) is directly on plywood so I went with the Gatorfoam to keep a narrow base. I'll have him glue it in place with Liquid Nails and weight it down good.
I plan on building Goober's a second time for my own use, this time with open bay doors and detailing the garage.
By the way, it's been about two years since I've done any real scenery so I feel rusty. I'd appreciate your constructive criticism here, not so much on the building as on the scenery itself. I was working with materials I had here on hand leftover from by club days and from goodies picked up at last year's Expo. I know I need to stock up on more stuff. Thanks in advance for your advice!
Great scene Dave..... 8)
Thanks, Greg!👍🏻
Great scene and excellent use of a oddly shaped area.
Thanks, Curt!👍🏻
Wonderful job Dave! Great kit Kenny! That looks just like a garage you'd probably find in almost every town in the country back in the day. Wonderful job on weathering it to make it look like it's been around for years with just the bare minimum amount of upkeep.
Thanks, Bob. It's a nice kit in that it's simple enough for a newbie but a more seasoned modeler could really go to town on it.
Hi Dave:
WOW!!! the diorama looks just fantastic.
Karl
Thank you, Karl.👍🏻
Dave,
I'm going to be lazy and say, "Ditto" to all the other great comments. Very well done.
Tom ;D
Thanks, Tom.👌🏻
Great diorama. Details really set it off. Well done signage as well.
Jeff
Thanks,Jeff.👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome Job Dave as usual! This kit was a lot of fun to build and is very customizable to show creative character. Kenny put together another great kit for sure!
Thanks, Your Toddliness. Kenny gave us a nice kit. I'm presenting it to its new owner today (I've ordered a second one for my own place).
