Title: Making a Billboard from an old Plasticville piece
Post by: restocarp on July 09, 2018, 08:27:42 AM
I will begin by apologizing to all who will be offended that I cut up an antique. But, while it is now heavily modified, I am pleased to have a vintage piece that can be exhibited on a realistic pike. So: Sorry. Not sorry.  ::)

Here is the unmodified Plasticville Billboard:

And the back:

Removing the cast plastic feet:

Filling the back with Bondo:

And sanding it flush:

To be continued...

Scuffing up the front and rounding some additional edges:

Filing a piece of bamboo skewer into a halfround:

Halfround skewer and styrene accent trim:

Installation of a backer for the actual billboard sign:

The back being v-groove with some added styrene framing:

A blast of gray primer:

And then I stopped taking progress photos....

So here is the front after a green paint and weather powder application:

And the back:

A side view:

With some signage added:

And with the edges of the banjo toned down a bit.

I hope you all enjoyed that quick little project.

Neat modification.....I seem to remember that from my old American Flyer days.  8)
