The wife is letting me out to play so I am going for first time. Who else is going and does anyone know the area to suggest a time and place to get together or has someone already covered this.
Jim D
There has been a "forum dinner" at just about every one of these shows. It's a great way to meet the folks we chat with on here regularly.
I had hope to be there a this Expo but it is not going to happen for me. I am really bummed out about it. On the plus side, if anyone wants my hotel reservation I'll gladly let you have it. The only condition is you have to bunk with THE Runner. But hey, maybe he will share some of his award winning tips with you.
Hopefully all the regulars attending will chime in and sign the register ;D
Later.
Jaime
My wife and I arrive by train from Virginia on Wedsday evening. Jim
I'll be arriving Weds evening.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this year. I just couldn't make the logistics work within my budget. This will be the first one that I have missed. One of you that are attending are going to have to make up for my expenditures is the vendor room. I'm sure David K. will step up. I hope everyone attending has a great time.
So sorry we'll be missing you, John. I'll bump up my credit card max to cover for you with the vendors.
Arriving early Wednesday afternoon (Halloween!) for me and the Mrs. Staying with a friend and his wife who we met at the expo last year. He lives 12 miles or 12 minutes from the site this year. What a blessing.
Last year the Forum crew went to dinner Thurs night before things got busy, but Friday would work, too. We all exchanged #s so no one got left out.
John, sorry you are not going to be there, was looking forward to meeting you. I have been reading your layout thread and find myself taking notes and saying, 'OK so that's how you do that'. Hopefully next time.
As for meeting up I too will be arriving Wednesday evening. Thursday or Friday dinner both work for me. Sounds like most going know the drill. What would be great is if someone that knows Albany can suggest a restaurant and a time I don't mind confirming the reservation and making sure all that are going (and lets everyone know they are coming) get the information. If a more experienced member knowing the ropes would like to corrdinate that would be even better.
My cell number is(813) 842-9501

I won't be renting a car this time, and don't know downtown Albany. Hopefully something in close proximity to the hotel. Anyone know the area?
Lots in the vicinity...
Maybe we should start a designated thread...
Oh, wait...this is a designated thread. D'oh!🤓
City Beer Hall has long tables and a room for a group as small as 15.
Dave
You done this before and City Hall looks great, you mind being the coordinator? I will be driving so can take up to five if we need to drive.
Jim D
I sent them an inquiry. How 'bout we start getting a head-count and a Thurs or Fri (or both?) preference? I'm good for either or both. It's only a block or so walk. Haven't checked menu prices, but it will be downtown-level, I'm sure.
I am good for either night or both depending on my clinic schedule. Are wives included or is it a guys only thing. Jim
Wives of course are included!
I am good either night. Wife will not be coming just me, she is looking forward to doing her thing I suspect.
Count me and the Mrs in! Either night works! I will arrive Thursday noonish to set up the HO Scale Customs table and do some live video interviews at the clinics, but should be good to go feed my face anytime!
I'll be there again this year. I'm getting in on Wednesday so Thurs or Fri works for me. This should be the kick in the butt I need to get back in the modeling groove!!! ;D :) ::)
Looks like we're up to 9 so far. Leaning toward Thursday...

I've heard of restaurants with wine's included but wive's included is a new one for me ;) ;D
🤣🤣🤣
Sorry to report that I won't be there this year. Dave K. - you'll have to hoist a Blue Moon for me. ;)
Enjoyed my first National Narrow Gauge Convention here in Minnesota and was great to met several members of the Forum for this first time...wish the retirement fund budget provided more $$$ to attend the Craftsman Show in Albany this year...really wanted to attend the clinic by Vilius...http://viliussm.blogspot.com/

We'll miss you, Bob and Tom. I'm do my best to cover for you, Bob!
The Jensens take us up to 11 for Thursday dinner.
Don't forget to bring your cameras - we love pictures.
I haven't finalized any Expo plans yet. I hope I go as I think I have been to all the Expos (and Craftsman Structure Shows- CSS) since 2007 and I'd like to stay in the running for Jmmy's attendance prize.
One problem is that I am still fried from the National Narrow Gauge Convention- I am about showed out. In the end I probably won't be able to stand not seeing everyone so I'll get a flight at the last minute with a nice middle seat all the way to Albany.
I did check with George Sellios and another option would be to fly to Boston Logan and then Uber to Peabody. George says he definitely will have the F&SM open on Halloween, Wednesday October 31st from
9AM to 3PM. After some time viewing the layout maybe I could hitch a ride to Albany. Who knows, maybe my pal Dan Raymo would have room for me in one of his trucks? (hint, hint) Dan always has good ideas.
Stay tuned- still a lot of drama here.
Still holding at seven folks for Thursday dinner...two more are "maybes".
Dave I just checked my clinic schedule and I am booked for Thurs evening My wife and I will have to cancel. Jim
We'll miss you, Jim...enjoy the clinic!
Well, it's getting to be time. Since we have a small group looks like we're okay just heading out and grabbing one of those long tables they have. Their side room is booked by a larger group. Let's eat!!!
Something came up in the past couple weeks, so I won't be out till Friday Morning. I'll see everyone then..
Gotta eat Friday night, too! Can always gather again!
We'll be in Thursday afternoon. Either night works. My wife will be along and my cell number is 774-283-2681.

Great! I'm at 630-697-6094.
Dave
Either night works fine for me. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Jim D
We'll likely do a Friday night gathering as well for anyone interested. We can post cell numbers here or I can collect them and make sure no one is left out. 630-697-6094
My wife(Rea) and I will arrive by train from Virginia Weds evening. Cell phone is 540-434-8234. Have a Thurs evening clinic so no dinner. Jim
I reconnoitered City Beer Hall last night and it would be a good spot. Decent grub, long tables, just a couple of blocks down Lodge St. shall we gather in the lobby say, 6:30-ish?
Hey Guys:
I can't make it this year. Sorry to miss the show and all of you great guys.
Karl
We'll miss you this year, Karl.
Well, after all this a change in the clinic schedule as me in a clinic at 5:30. If y'all still want to head over I'll still need to eat when the clinic's done at 8. If anyone's still festivities, great! I'll probably round up some clinic guys, too.
About 8 of us made it out after the clinic...Jim Donovan has incriminating pix.
